Does your win/loss ratio effect your s-rank? Say you hit srank, and have a 40% win rate. Does that win rate carry over as you rank in S?
Win % @ rank 5- S
I’ve heard that your hidden MMR starts getting tracked once you’ve hit diamond. So depending how well you do in Diamond and what other people have done, affects your initial positioning for S-Rank.
So it doesn’t effect my ranking once in S? For example if I have a bad win ratio going to S, that % is wiped away once i am ranked in S?
No, it stays with you.
Think of your hidden MMR as a number. Lets say its 500 for example, once you hit S-Rank you’ll be placed according to your MMR. But instead of seeing your MMR number of 500, you’ll see which S-Rank number you are. Lets say it places you at S-Rank 20 for example. Once you play against someone and win, your MMR number increases lets say it goes up to 520 and that translates you moving up to S-Rank 18. But when you lose you lose MMR so that decreases and your S-Rank position goes down.
The amount of your MMR that goes up or down depends on the MMR of your opponent and the gap between you and them. The better the opponent the more you gain for winning but you’ll lose less for losing. The worse the opponent is, the less you’ll gain for winning but you’ll lose more for losing. You can win or lose matches and not move your S-Rank position because you haven’t gained/lost enough MMR to move positions.
Basically, you can have a bad win rate (MMR) going into S-Rank but you can make up for it over time by beating better opponents.
I am playing “fun decks” and not so much competitive. So i should make sure I don’t hit diamond, and tank till I am ready for competitive play right?
Its all up to you. It doesn’t really matter in my opinion. If you are good enough to beat other S-Rank/Diamond players then any MMR you lose by playing fun decks, you could quickly gain back when you feel like playing more serious/competitive decks. Since you’ll be gaining a lot MMR back, if your MMR is low and you start winning.
