Why is unranked full of try hard decks?

We have finally been given a place to play the most random/crazy deck ideas and all I am seeing is legit try hard decks why not just play ranked if you want to play that kinda stuff, I understand unranked is a great place to practice decks but still I am not seeing enough madness shame.

Give it a bit more time. Soon enough the rest of meme team will get bored of ladder and start dabbling in the dark arts.

people use casual to test the decks they want to use in ranked

Meme team I like that and yeah true we are in the early days I have been making some fun stuff  lets see how it develops.

  1. Ranked matchmaking is different than ladder. It could just be better players with better cards.

  2. People might want to practice ranked decks or see how powerful card combinations are in unlimited.

  3. People could be sick of ranked and just want some unranked wins real quick.

Fully agree on that one.
The good thing in Unranked is, you can concede anytime with no consequence, I usually concede half of my matches when playing an Unranked session.

Reason may vary : third Brome in a row, that-slow-player-again, don’t want to play vs this faction, easily-recognizable-cancer-deck etc etc.

Best game mode ever to me

This. I will be playing Rawrswarm Abyss there some day, there’s just too many actually viable-ish/borderline op things to try out before moving to that territory :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s strange because when I play in unlimited all I see are either meme or try hard decks with rotated cards, while I wish I’d have more ladder deck-test games  …

Waiting on some more spirit to craft the most RNG heavy Magmar deck to try in unranked!

Unranked will naturally be the most difficult mode to play in.

That’s because every strategy has all cards in the game available, making them stronger, and keeping some broken strategies around forever. This will only get more pronounced over time as more sets are introduced and rotated out of ranked.

Sure, people could play unranked for the memes…but there are plenty of people that will play to get that “feel good win” with a carefully constructed deck complete with crazy interactions of old and new cards, and every tool available.

I prefer to play in Unlimited because I can use rotated cards, and I only play tryhard decks because I want to get gold for wins, and because I like winning and hate losing. I’m not planning to play regular ladder anymore, honestly, except late in the month when I can burn through Silver as fast as possible with a strong deck, hit Gold, get my epic and legendary for the month, and go back to Unlimited so I can play falciuses and spheres of darkness. And if people don’t like what I’m playing and concede, I get the win, the gold, the quest progress, and can just go ahead to the next match.

No apologies. If Counterplay makes a ranked version of Unlimited, I’ll probably switch to that, but until then, Unlimited is the only place where I can play the decks I really want to, so that’s where I’ll stay.

edit: To address to the question, its not because its unranked, its because it allows all cards

I actually dislike the idea of a ladderless format exactly because of OP’s problem- rank adjusts which opponents you should be playing against

Seems to me that it was an especially unwise decision regarding unlimited- letting ultra minmaxers play against people who are afraid of losing on the ladder and memers is probably a bad choice
Hence it should also have a ladder

All fear of losing in ranked formats is unjustified except for S Rankers who are competing for the first place

I’m here trying to have fun with my wanderer meme, but my opponents in unlimited are Sajj ascension, Brome strategos.

Well some people have unique and weird deck, that is what i want too see.

Wanderer is one of the strongest decks right now. First two players to S this season played Wanderer to get there

Eh really?
I cant even pass rank 4 with that.

Currently trying to grind spirit for this deck. I like to call it RNG-Cancer-Mar

Wanderer decks are hard to optimise, but I met a couple of very powerful ones, namely celestialward’s and…someone else’s. They ARE powerful.

E.G. In Magmar you can flash or Kujata Wanderer early, and their statsticks vecome even more statsticky.

Yeah I sometimes need a break from the frankly boring ranked decks at the moment, I never climb high but it is nice to have a place to just chill now.

I remember they took out unranked for that very fact, but I think it is back in to allow cards out of rotation now so people don’t feel cheated when buying packs .

I am currently messing around with this deck type, it is pretty funny to play and I did manage to kill a guy at 16 HP in one turn when he had no cards left

Also this is using Standard only cards but I prob will never try in ranked haha
