Duelyst Forums

What are your expectations for the new expansion?

Not long ago, it was revealed that Duelyst’s next expansion would be Ancient Bonds (containing 39 new cards), focusing on tribal minions and effects (particularly with the Golem and Arcanyst tribes). We were also revealed Peacemaker, and will be revealed a new Vetruvian card within a few hours. With this known, what would you guys like to see in the new expansion?

Personally, I would like to see:

Lyonar

  • Strong support for a Golem archetype

Songhai

  • More combo cards
  • More Arcanyst Synergy

Vetruvian

  • More structure support
  • More artifact/Sajj support

Magmar

  • Growth and Rebirth support

Vanar

  • Vespyr and Wall synergy cards

Neutral

  • Possibly replace synergy cards? Also more golem and arcanyst options

Of course, you can also include what specific kind of effects you would like to see in the expansion, or what decks you would like to see come out as well .

Everything you listed + Abyssian Dying Wish synergy

I’m honestly terrified of what the Arcanyst tribe might become. I feel like it’s been a sleeper archetype that just needs a LITTLE more support to become mainstream.

And hopefully we’ll get actual synergy rather than just cards labeled as “Golem” or “Warmaster” or “Arcanyst”. That would be amazing!

I hope it has a neutral 4/6 minion for 5 resources with Provoke AND whenever you replace a card it randomly generates a 2/2 minion AND that minion has a random keyword ability.

LOL, wayyyyyyy too overpowered. Would NEVER happen!

Can wraithlings be a tribe? I mean there are enough of them

I wish. We have wraithlings, when do we get full blown wraith

Not something I’ve ever thought about before, but now that you point it out I’m actually quite surprised there isn’t a wraith card yet.

I predict that Lyonar, Magmar, and Abyssian will be the golem factions and Songhai, Vanar, and Vetruvian will be Arcanist factions.
Magmar has a whole lot of earth to make golems from and Abyssian do so things like Flesh, Shadow, or even Wraithling golems. I can also see Vetruvian doing things with golems, but they already have Dervishes, which are already pretty similar to golems; any Vetruvian golems will just make things confusing.

I also predict a 30:9 split of faction to neutral cards and that the rarities and types of cards in each faction do not correspond (ex: one faction can have a legendary minion while another has a legendary spell). The number of cards in each rarity will be the same as that of the Bloodborn set.

Here’s a bigger prediction: in order to unlock the cards, you do not buy orbs. Instead, you pay to unlock a “challenge,” which is either a puzzle or boss battle between a random epic or legendary card. Completing the challenge will yield three of that card and 2 random rare or commons.

As for cards, I predict that there will be two neutral legendaries; one golem lord and one arcanist lord.

Perhaps:

Philosopher’s Stone
(A jet black core with pieces of the other golems’ materials swirling around it)
4 mana, 0/7
At the end of your turn, summon a random golem with cost equal to your remaining mana nearby.

Headmaster Keiss-Lei
(Awesome wizard dude)
5 mana
3/7
Opening gambit: Discard a spell. At the end of your turns, add a copy of the discarded spell to your hand

I like the predictions except for the challenge thing, that’s never going to happen. What’s to stop you from googling the answers and getting the full set at once? How does CPG make money?

That stone is a sick card. The wizard is replace glitch incarnate, so I hate it

Where’s Magmar’s grandmaster!!!

The 2 mana spell? It got nerfed

@whyb0t
True. That grandmaster was way too powerful, even after he got turned into a spell.

The challenge thing is more along the lines of paying either gold or money to receive a random challenge, and completing the challenge gets the card. It is essentially identical to Bloodborn monetization but you need to complete an additional challenge to get the cards.

Wait, how would you make a wraithling golem? Tape or glue a ton of wraithlings on a serpenti?

In all seriousness, if we don’t get our Grandmaster I hope the other cards support Rebirth and Grow.
Come on CP, we ask for simple things and we got… Valknu? Who asked for Valknu? And let’s not talk about EG…

Then you have lower skill players complaining that the challenges are too hard or they just look them up and higher tier players not seeing the point of the challenge or seeing them as too easy

Hey, battle pets are a tribe amirite?

Seriously, though, I would like to see more support for battle pets (and more than just swarm/aggro pets), as there are so few of them now. I feel like there’s a lot of potential.
(Granted, there are about as many Golems and Arcanysts as well.)

[spoiler](Also, is the Warmaster tribe ever going to be a thing?)
