It’s like the matrix all over again.
Honestly though, it doesn’t really matter. The concept of reality (or at least or free will) being potentially suspect has existed far longer than the idea of an ancestor simulator has. If you believe in hard determinism, we’re all a bunch of atoms bouncing off of each other and free will does not exist. This is no different than believing we are part of a simulation.

I don’t know, I tend to go back and forth with that one, there’s evidence to back it all up, but It also seems off in a way to me, ultimately I’ve decided It doesn’t matter enough (to me at least) to think about it all the time, but as you said to each their own.
