Was Pre-Nerf Meltdown/Arcanysts good for the game, or bad?

Tempo Vaath was a deck that consistently smashed Vanar and other decks. It was weaker overall but it was the deck that was the other top tier deck. You were the first person I hearrd who said that Tempo Vaath wasn’t top tier.

In other news: There was little RNG in this format as Meltdown was controlable and you rarely used the blue Conju arcanysts.

in more accurate news, it was the most rng heavy meta I’ve ever seen

revisionist history

Meltdown rng knocked out multiple grandmasters out of some of our biggest tournaments, players would literally be dead on board and hope Meltdown dicerolls decide the game in their favour.

Blue conjurer pulls were so relevant they caused Mogwai to abstain from competitive casting and led to the running joke that Sparrowhawk was in fact a vanar card due to how often Vanar would end games with a critical Mist Dragon Seal.

It was lategame which they came up so chances arr you would usually get something of value.

Meltdown rng was a thing but it was controlable however the impact of it was why it was so vital.

Nah It smash everything else not Vanar. Vanar was really alone at the top and nothing was a good match up.Magmar could steal games but Vanar clear consistent best deck. Also The RNG was relevant and too consistent to win and losses.Tournaments games was often determined on 50/50 Meltdown turns.

Easily the worst meta in duelyst history

Superior Mirage was tasty too

You sure about that?

I can’t remember where it is now but iirc it used to state that Vaath was the only deck that can consistently beat Faie. It might’ve been a different article.

vaath was definately the second best deck in that meta, and probably the most popular on ladder as it was much easier to play, but faie definately had the edge.

Faie was undoubtedly better but it wasn’t the only top deck.

Not only is this argument irrelevant as this meta is long past, but also largely up to opinion. Everyone has their own tier list, and I believe this thread is more about whether or not powerful metas/decks/tools are good for the game.

Controllable RNG is still RNG, and in my opinion is very negative when it’s that powerful. Regardless, the fact remains that these things mostly drove players away from Duelyst rather than made it more enjoyable.

Do you think CPG has learned from this mistake, so they don’t tank their next game?

I’d hate for them to make a Duelyst successor, with graphics that appeal to the mainstream, and alienate even more players.

Cp learning :joy:
They never do…
They saw that printing strong 3mana AOE removal isn,t a good idea…

So because they ,learned, this followed:

Couldn,t find a picture of the old rebuke so corrected it myself

Has Blue Conjurer been patched? The Duelyst Wiki doesn’t mention a restriction in RNG. Patch 1.83 was the one about Meltdown nerf, Blue Conjurer apparently isn’t featured though.

What was different about Arcanysts then? Only Circulus?

Reflection Faie wasn’t meta when they where nerfed as they nerfed Seraphim before those nerfs.

that is just not true, seraphim was nerfed along with lavaslasher/rebuke/finality after IV released, the removal was nerfed at the same time as IV, patch note for reference.
