Walls of Winter Deck

Hi everyone!

I made this deck to have a little fun with Kara Winterblade and the new Unearthed Prophecy cards combining well with the Wall-archetype.

The Deck:

The TL;DR:

The idea is to ramp fast and prevent your opponent from ramping.
Then play walls with Winter’s Wake or Luminous Charge walls with a way to destroy those walls.
Alternatively Flawless Reflect many Walls into becoming Ghost Seraphims.

Key cards of the deck I’d say are Ghost Seraphim and Luminous Charge.

The Cards:

Minions:
Snow Chaser: speedy, nice to buff with BBS, can often play it alongside a wall P1T1
Shivers: helps ramp, helps kill ramp chance of opponent potentially (with MDG)
Drake Dowager: I need those walls alive, so if opponent whacks a 0/1 Gravity Well this benefits and teaches them not to. If they don’t swat the wall that’s even better. Plus, with all the walls some ranged damage is often nice for positioning, and the spawned Drake gets buffed with BBS.
Blistering Skorn: Pops Luminous Walls and kills enemy wraithlings if needed.
Spelljammer: With all the ramp I need card draw… I probably need in fact 3 of these… or an L’Kian or so… See below.
Ghost Seraphim: Strong minion, very nice to turn gravity walls into with Flawless Reflection, but most importantly cheapens spells (Luminous Charge for example) so they can be combo’ed with.
Grandmaster Embla: Spawns walls and is a strong minion, can combo with Winter’s Wake if you have a Ghost Seraphim on board, can even put in a BBS at 9 mana as well!

Spells:
Mana Deathgrip: Ramp and can finish off stuff, needs no explanation.
Bonechill Barrier: A wall, with Kara’s BBS it can attack and take 3 dmg, which is really nice.
Chromatic Cold: Needs no explanation.
Frigid Corona:: Stops enemy from ramping, as P1T1 I play walls taking P2’s tile or I use this, or helps me survive until I can get going.
Gravity Well: A wall, with Kara’s BBS it can attack and take 2 dmg so survives Skorn, which is really nice.
Enfeeble: Helps me multiple ways: Can turn Luminous Charges into things that can attack and thus deal their damage, can stop enemies from swarming me when I do not have board control yet and combo’s nice with Skorn. Really nice against Vet obelysks. Also with MDG/Chromatic.
Luminous Charge: The other key card: if buffed with Kara’s BBS and the opponent General cannot move away 1 of these equals 15 damage. Or with Enfeeble. Or with Skorn. Or with Ghost Seraphim and Flawless Reflection it makes 6 Ghost Seraphims.
Flawless Reflection: Really good card! With 2-mana walls you can grab 3 or 4 copies of big enemy threats as well.
Winter’s Wake: Well in this deck it shouldn’t need explanation.

The Question:

Even though I won so far with this (not impressive, 4/4 in gold only) I kinda really need the extra Spelljammer.
-> What shall I lose?

Maybe swap 1 Frigid Corona for a Gravity Well and 1 for a Spelljammer? But I kind of like the cycling to get more chance of drawing what I need.

What do you guys think in general of this deck?

Would you play it? How would you change it?
How can I improve it?

If you try it out, let me know!

Thanks!

Why shivers instead of crystal wisp? Shivers need to survive a turn and be able to hit something while infiltrated to ramp, while crystal wisp is guaranteed ramp. Why are you rnnning shivers instead of wisp?

Because together with MDG they kill many many many t1 plays. Even kill things like Phantasms alone.

And the opponent cannot escape it, Crystals are not attacked and need to walk all the way into range.

This is just faster.

Shivers likes bloodtear alchemist and abyssian

Shivers in combination with mana deathgrip can take out any 2-drop on the board while ramping up two mana? And most 3-4 drops in combination with general? Not as guaranteed but has some of its own uses.

Edit: for replacement ideas, I would probably get rid of the reflect. You already have enough win conditions, just put in another spelljammer and other 2-of into a 3-of.

Yes, but the reason I doubt shivers is because it can get pinged so easily. It gets killed by bloodtear, gotatsu, Cass BBS, daemonic lure, Mana Death Grip, and even more. Wisp doesn’t have that same problem as its form of ramp is in dying wish. I just think there are too many pings to play a minion like that with it just getting pinged, when you could be playing wisp instead to get guaranteed ramp. I think shivers is a worse crystal wisp. This is just my opinion.

That’s true but I never play it after the first turn or 2, which almost negates Cass BBS option. Well, so far no-one has removed, might just have been luck.

If they Lure it or so that’s fine, that will make their start slower too. I do not need to ramp fast in an absolute sense, I just need to ramp faster than the opponent can overwhelm me.

But maybe I’ll change my mind after more matches… But I think I would do almost anything else before Crystal Wisp, it’s really bad imo.

@ your edit: That’s probably a valid idea… I really like it currently, but I might try that.

I think shivers has potential in a vespyr focused deck that can buff it up, but otherwise it is as you say, an inferior wisp.

I’m still trying to get winters wake from shimzar orbs :expressionless:
