Verdenia Lands (fan-faction) minion design concepts

Duelyst has inspired me to make a fan faction based off of the factions (as some may know from my introduction), and this morning I was finally able to finish digitally sketching the minion designs I’ve came up with so far.

What is the Verdenia Lands?: In brief, the Verdenia Lands is a fan faction based off of nature/plants and insects(mainly bees). The original color pallet was planned to be a blue-red color pallet, similar to the Duelyst tree logo, yet was changed to a more green-yellow-pink pallet to fit the flower/plant theme of the faction. Similar to the Abyssian and Vanar faction, the majority of the females are plant-based while all of the males are insects (with exceptions that plants are really asexual and asexually reproduce, queen bees, and other female insects).

When designing the faction, I wanted it to be themed on minions working relying on each other, and benefiting from other’s sacrifices or presence. They have a lot of focus on improving and restoring the health of minions and absorbing damage, and also works on controlling the board using traps.

Faction specific Keywords/effects?: Thorns/Counterattack Deals a set amount of damage when taking damage from a source nearby (when not attacked by ranged/blast attacks). This effect does work on Frenzy minions, even if the Frenzy minion did not specifically target that minion for an attack (as long as it was dealt damage from that attack).
Ex: Thorns(1) deals 1 additional point of damage when attacked by a non-ranged attack, Thorns (2) deals 2, etc.

TrapsI have not really worked out thoroughly how the trap mechanic would work out, but I used it as a method to pressure the board and help guide or ‘trap’ enemies. There are different traps and cards that have synergy with traps, yet they can be destroyed by AoE damage and AoE/space dispelling. An enemy must stand on a trap to proc it, yet I don’t know if they would override special tiles (like Shadowcreep or Mana tiles). A trap can only be activated once and is destroyed after activating unless other cards say otherwise, such as by detonating or improving traps. Ex: Flower trap- Stun any enemy that lands on this space.

Generals So far, I have only uploaded one general (Demetra Tempora), but I also have a bee general (Borris Maplehorn) that I’ve been designing. Demetra’s BBS will be Seed Flare (places a Flower trap nearby her), and I have not designed Borris’s BBS.

Minions These are the minions I’ve designed so far. Please keep in mind that these are really rough sketches of the basic and uncommon minions designed so far (names and effects will be added at a later time)
