I agree that Nosh and Zendo are better finishers but atleast you can answer them.
Isnât this kind of a semantic difference? Yes, you may be able to occasionally remove the other grandmasters without consequences, and they have no everlasting effect, but itâs more likely theyâll kill you off immediately. Donât you feel you have a lot more room to come up with answers in the extra time Variax gives you?
Variax nerf doesnât solve the problem duelyst has with the lategame. This patch seemes to me somewhat temporary, it shows how much work they have with new mode and mobile release. But I like where are they going. I like every change that slowes down a game though.

Your suggestions kill a perfectly fine card.
Variax is a powerful late game play, and that is exactly what it should be. Lategame duelyst is supposed to be two mages using everything they got. It is where the big comboriffic plays happen. Variax is certainly one of those.
The key thing here is that variax is also really slow in that it will take a full turn before you can make use of its effect. Meanwhile, the 8/8 body is nice, but it does not compare to what other things you can get at that cost. It will remain a killer for slow decks that lack a good endgame strategy.
I donât see how it is a slap on wrist,It went from being ramp out on 5 to 6 .It probably goes from being able to play it in any Abyss deck to only being able to play in only in ramp decks.

Like it or not duelyst games end around 6 to 8 mana alot. Two slow turns at 6 and 7 is not a good thing ,They are going to be a alot of sad Abyss players dying before they get to attack with their wraithlings now
I think that Variaxs Nerf is bad designed. Now its too slow, i prefer revenant over her 100%. The only 8 mana cards that are playable are obliterate and spiral tecnique because they are game ending cards. Upping the cost of awesome bbs to 5 mana would make the card more fair and still playable.
My first impression so far is this is more significant than people think. I have been playing Variax since it was released and obviously there were some bad match ups against aggro. Even against some control opponents it was too slow prior to the nerf. Now a match against magmar or tempo Argeon is almost a forgone conclusion and the control decks that it was good against now have an extra turn to find their finisher which quite frankly happens a lot. Whybot and Mathspy basically hit the nail on the head with their comments. If you are losing to Variax consistently at this point it isnât Variax that is the issue.
Truthfully I was considering going with Meltdown control Fae anyway as it felt more consistent, but now it just seems obviously better.

Just a bullshit suggestion here but what if Variaxâs stats remains the same (regardless of 7 cost,7/7 or 8 cost ,8/8)⌠and the awesome effect becomes something like this:
Cost 3: Summon 3 Wraithlings & one Wraith Ritualyst.
Wraith Ritualyst
Cost 5, 2/2
At the end of your turn, destroy all of your Wraithlings & deal damage to the enemy general equal to X. (X is the total Atk of all the Wraithlings destroyed during the end turn.)
Reasoning:
The OC unit is easy to remove so there.
Synergy with Furosa or Crytographer for 6 damage of the bloodborn proc.
Synergy with other Ritualystâs since the damage equals to the Wraithlings destroyed AT THE END TURN.
Synergy with Bloodmoon, Shadowdancer & Grimoire.
Artifacts have slight advantage since itâs not an endless ping.
Does clog up your field. Thus, more easy to play on less efficient devices.
Works marvelously if you can set up a stable field of wraitlings. Thus, encourages to work for it.
You can still utterly lose from this.
How would this work with BMP?
If you have wraithlings spawn near the enemy General itâs some extra damage, or damage on their minions. Plus when your wraithlings are killed sheâll generate more.
Personally this design is even less interactive, since your BBS spawns the special wraith and the damage is at the end of your turn, your opponent has no chance to retaliate for guaranteed at least 3 damage every turn. And whatâs the point in spawning 3 wraithlings if they die at the end of your turn, and you canât move them? Just deal three damage.
You would get a 2/2 body and if he sticks next turn is a a guaranteed 6 damage with another 2/2 body. Also deathwatch stacks. Itâs more interactive than the current version and is preferable for it. That speaks more to the current state than anything though.
Random thoughts; youâd need 4 open spaces next to your general (meaning no corner camping) else thereâs a chance you donât get the ritualyst. You didnât specify if the ritualyst itself is a wraithling weâve assumed it isnât. Comboing with cryptographer means you would have to bbs then move to bss again (needing 8 open spaces).
Edit: To clarify itâs more interactive because it requires 4 open spaces next to the general to get the damage effect where as currently you only need 2 for maximum effect. This version still suffers from most problems as explained in previous posts.
Also with the refering to the adjusting to variax stats and cost reviewing the discussion it seems his casting cost wasnât considered. Lowering his cost and stats would be fine with the suggested changes in the opening post.

Summon 3 Wraithlings & Agonizes all Wraithlings. (Essentially give all Wraithlings the âGrasp of Agonyâ that deals damage to your enemies)
If you give a wraithling Grasp of Agony, when it dies it would explode on you not your enemy, which would actually kill your own wraithlings and make an even bigger explosion 
. So you would have to give them a different ability if you want it to be useable (or simply change the name of the effect ).
Well, THAT is what I am aiming for & I agree. âAgonyâ would make it seems like its Grasp of agony. How about âBlightsâ?

Sounds sweet. Thereâs a lot of cool fan mechanics like this but rarely is a new mechanic introduced for a single card

. The idea is interesting, turning all of your wraithlings into 1/1 Gnashers, although AoE would still wreck the little fellas.
