You can do that right now as well bascially with only Phenix fire. It’s called 8 Gates. Or Mantra. Even with 10 different burn spells it’s kinda unlikely for all of them ending up in the same deck.
I guess that’s where we differ fundamentally. More interactions and more utility is a good thing imo. Having more different archetypes available, being able to choose between options for a slot instead of going for the usual autoinclude that’s what makes deckbuilding interesting. And that’s one of the biggest flaws Duelyst has right now. You are so limited in your choices assuming you want to make a competitive deck that 60% of the cards in any given deck for any given faction will be the same. “Oh look, a Lyonar deck, and here come the Lions, Silverguards and the Ironcliffs.”
Songhai has a bunch of options in the 3 mana slot, Vet in the 5 mana slot, that’s the situation i’d like to have for every slot in every faction. More options than i can put into a deck so that i can choose the best options for any given deck i want to build right now.
If overpowered interactions come up they can just be nerfed and that’s it. Not printing good cards out of fear something overpowered might arise from it will keep the game stale and boring. Duelyst needs more cards like Alabaster Titan that are powerful but require a specific kind of deck, and it needs more utility to give players choices. Choices are what makes strategy games interesting. And as of now the choices in Duelyst Deckbuilding are a far cry from wha they should be.
Probably the competitiveness. Useful two drops are a constant issue in most factions as well as specific stuff like carddraw/heal where some factions have to look in the neutral section because they don’t have anything in faction to use. Healingmystic and/or Primusfist can be found in almost all my decks because faction two drops are so limited.
