Unearthed Prophecy - Neutral Magesworn

It looks like this card’s entire existence came about to combat the issues that have emerged and become visible from previous expansion(s). I like that the statline leaves it to be played as a back or front line option, but the mana cost is steep to the extent where the main two factions that I could personally see use it are the ramp ones - Vanar and Magmar. Humorously, the two that seem to already be upper tier.

I don’t know about other factions, but typical Songhai decks would probably never consider putting this into their deck.

If you play it against Vanar, it gets Foxxed. If you play it against anyone else, they shrug and carry on.

Maybe there’s some tech area I’m not seeing right now, but I don’t think this is going to see much immediate use.

edit: Fox is 2 mana less than I recalled, so nvm.

Ummm…

Vanar can’t use fox because it’s a less than 2 mana spell. This counters Songhai amazingly. It’s a good tech card for decks with lots of cheap spells.

I haven’t played in like 2 months, so I must have mixed up some mana costs. Thanks for the catch q_q

I like this extremely, extremely slight nerf to Blue Conjurer’s pool.
Do you like the card? Yay, Nay, Don’t Care?

This seems like a pretty nifty tech card to use against any spell combo or arcanyst decks. It seems like it can see play at the tournament level to tech against certain match ups.

Also Brisela? Is that you!? You look… better… Still messed up, but not a two-headed jellyfish angel anymore.

I have nothing against the design of this card, which is actually pretty nice, but the stats are so bad compared to its cost that I doubt it will see play. It should cost less or be more threatening.

You’re not playing this minion for its stats, you’re playing it for its effect. This isnt a minion thats in the midst of a battle field, you’re tucking it in some corner somewhere so you can keep its effect. It also has 8 Hp which is quite hard to remove especially considering it makes it so many removal spells can’t be used. making this minion insanely sticky and only weak to very certain cards. If anything it could have 4 attack so plasma storm doesnt kill it.

I know, but it has a niche effect combined with sub-par stats. I see what the card tries to achieve, but I don’t think I will run it. Also, at 6 mana a Vanar opponent may have ramped already, so it has probably created enough troubles when this cards comes into play. I like it, but I doubt it will be effective.

The cards lone calling isnt to defeat arcanyst vanar, its not very good at that to begin with. The cards purpose is to make it so people cant continously play cheap spells. Against a deck like arcanyst vanar it works, but it comes in too late to stop them and simplu stalls the game. Against decks that dont work like arcanyst vanar but still rely on cheap spells such as most songhai decks, the card is pretty good. It does what it wants to well, and it can see play in certain metas.

It will be effective.

Turn 6 Magesworn
Turn 7 Silthar Elder

You just need it survive one turn so it can be on the board when play a minion,If you are going to remove my minion it won’t be mana efficient. You will have to use costly stupid removal which doesn’t allow you to take the board. If you remove my Elder with enfeeble, dark transformation or Blood of air fine ,just as long as it is not aspect of the fox or chromatic cold and you get to play good minion too which is not fine.

I see your point, but I’m still skeptic. Let’s say you craft 3x of these and then you let me know

It would’ve been excellent if it said: “NEITHER player can–”

As is, I dunno…

Finally, a good card! Looks like Vanar is going to have to start running expensive removal if they don’t want to get crushed by Nimbus, Aymara, Vorpel Reaver and others.

This is probably going to be one of my favorite cards in the expansion. Cheap removal has always been a problem and this is a great way to deal with them without having to nerf them. In addition, because it affects both players I believe it is rather balanced. The 6 mana 3/8 stat-line isn’t amazing but the 8 health sure is great since it helps him survive most trades. Magesworn is going to be an amazing tech card against a lot of factions (especially Vanar) but can also be used to protect higher cost minions from being removed by cheap spells. However, despite all these benefits there is one serious problem. It is almost impossible to buff Magesworm as most buffing spells cost 2 or less. So the combo aegis barrier + Magesworm can not be accomplished (or maybe there is a way if you increase Aegis barrier’s cost) unless dispelled. Lastly, there are decks that dont use cheap spells in the first place. In match ups against those types of decks Magesworn is useless. That being said this might be the card that finally slows down the meta. It may not affect aggro Vaath as much but it will affect Vanar and spell Songhai A LOT which is good since they will be required to search for other types of decks to play with.

Not completely true about Aegis Barrier ,2 Spell binders or Kesh Rai Fanblade would raise Aegis enough for it to played. So it is not impossible just very very unlikely

hmm that’s a nice idea I might just try to do it once the card is released.

But does Magesworn only care about the original cost of the spell or can spell cost increasing mechanisms work around it?
