Unearthed Prophecy - Neutral Dagona

Fun card but too costly to be used, dust

You have to remember that a lot of the factions use transformation based removal. Removing this using transformation would make it so that you don’t get the devoured minion back. So, a lot of the time, this is essentially unconditional removal with a body attached.

With all the ramp in Vanar, I hope people will run this for lols.

HungryHungryVanar new meta!

Already liked it, but you sold me - Will this work this way @ThanatosNoa?

If not, using a Dagona on your own Dagona would permanently wipe out the original minion the 1st one swallowed, as well as threaten a dagona if the second is destroyed.

Geeze, I can’t believe CPG could do somthing like this. That last thing Vanar needs is access to more tools that control the position of your opponent’s minions. Now they’re going to use Dagona to swallow my minion and camp in the middle lane! I’ll never see my minion ever again, because as soon as I kill Dagona, they’ll use that stupid Glacial Fissure spell and just destroy it anyways. How stupid.

Thank you for clearing this up.

Dust.

Hmm, it says ‘anywhere’… as in, from your hand? An elaborate way to play Blood Taura when at 25 life??

Edit: yes I’m joking.

This is literally kill or you’ll lose value if devoured minion is valuable.

However, I wonder why it was set to ANY. Is there even any reason to devour your own minion?

Maybe you have an important minion that is low health and could be useful later. So you devour it and when Dagona dies, it comes back at full health.

Problem is you can’t use it that easily, his HP is 8 that don’t allow it to die fast. Besides, you’ll never do that vs Songhai/Vetruvian/Magmar/Vanar

On another note this is literally a reason for playing Entropic Decay over Blood of Air.

But you got to remember that Dagona is also a threat itself with 8 attack. So your opponent will probably be forced or have to confront it at some point. Depending how heavy their deck is with transformation or dispel, if their can’t deal with it by doing that, then they’ll be trading minions into it. While having to deal with whatever comes back out. However, it kinda needs high health because you’re more likely to use it on your opponent’s minions rather than your own.

OK, srsly, am I seeing things or does Duelyst really lend ideas from Pox? Terrain types, Doom, now this goliath fesh fish. @Ryvirath is this your influence?

Devouring your own minion is very important for when you set up the Circle of Dessication next turn.

It’s still a very risky plan however, because transforming/dispelling dagona will kill it. It does seem reasonable, but very hard to find the right time to use it on.

Personally, I think this minion is fantastic! It’s removal attached to a giant body which is already a good combination, 8 mana is a lot but a 8 mana 8/8 that destroys anything sounds worth it. Yes, its only temporarily but here’s the thing, think about how you’re going to get that minion back. lets say I’m playing versus Magmar, Magmar plays Juggernaut and i eat it up with Dagona. How does Magmar get his minion back? All of Magmar’s removal are transform and will destroy Juggernaut along with Dagona. Yes, people don’t play Juggernaut but think about it, how much removal out there is capable of getting a minion back from Dagona? Off the top of my head the only non silencing or transforming hard removal that is commonly run is Martydom. You can’t silence or transform it unless you want to lose you’re willing to lose your minion along with it. If you want your minion back, most factions are going to have to kill Dagona the hard way. Overall, I think Dagona is a solid minion that sees play in some late game orientated lists. It’s still very expensive, but if the meta slows down a bit I do think it’s a very solid card.

I didn’t really think my idea was all that practical. What I’m actually thinking is that this minion will eat a large threat, then you drop an EMP.

This way, your 8 drop gets a high-value breakfast, and your 7 drop lets it digest it without reversal of fortune. Plus you get two bulky bodies. It ALMOST feels like Dominate Will to me, in that you remove a threat, while getting a threat of your own,

Im almost a hundred percent sure that ryvirath doesnt have any incluence over new cards. He isnt on the design team, his job is to manage the community.

My guess is when one of your minion got dispelled …with Dagona you can try to reset your dispelled minion…yeah it’s risky …also if there is no target Dagona can’t be played, so if you want just the body and your enemy has no minions you need to devour one of your minions
