Unearthed Prophecy - Abyssian Nekomata

This is something I am happy to see. I love Dying Wish, and it really could use some love as a deck theme.

I do however believe this card may be a little on the strong side (not terribly so). Drawing two cards that are guaranteed minions is powerful. Being able to stack your deck to improve the odds of drawing a particular minion is even stronger. Good news is, we don’t have any big, game winning, minions with dying wish. If or when we do, this card will be there to grab it (assuming it doesn’t belong to another faction).

Vorpal reaver, klaxxon and reaper to name a few.

Also time to bring out my dusty prismatic reaper(s)

Similar to a card I made up a while ago! Draw, for Dying Wish decks? I’m very excited

They are powerful, yes. But they are easy to play around. None of them have immediate board impact (nor do any dying wish minions, thankfully). Rot9M is extremely susceptible to RNG for how useful it is. Klaxon and Vorpal Reaver are really only good for their wraithling/creep synergies since removal is so common in Duelyst. If they stay on the board for more than a turn, then yes, they’re game winning material.

I’m mostly saying it’s a good thing we don’t have powerful dying wish minions that can protect themselves or have rush. I never ever want to see a dying wish minion with rush.

In other news, I think Nekomata helps enable Lurking Fear as a card. I’ve never liked Lurking Fear because of what it does to your card advantage, but if you can generate a lot more draw with Nekomata, it will actually be useful!

Edit: I just remembered Grimes has immediate board impact, but thankfully he’s pretty pricey and is weak to fickle RNG.

By its self I think this card is pretty bad tbh, you’re paying four mana for a understated body that might draw you two dying wish cards, eventually. Personally id rather just put more strong dying wish minions in instead of this.

Since I did this for the last card reveal, might as well do it for this one.
Do you like the card? Yay or Nay?[poll type=regular public=true]

This card going into my cass creep deck, forcing 2 klaxons will bunker up the late game.

I’m getting intrested!!

Yeah, but with lurking fear its a 3-2-1 mana minion. Plus in the late game hand size is a real problem for lurking fear decks. This solves that problem.

As i always say grimes is a bad 6 drop but its an excellent 4 drop

Tbh it should say that it can’t tutor itself, because it will almost ruin its purpose

That’s why creep deck is the right place for it😎

Honestly that can only happen twice(without replace). And if your hand was empty you might actually like the extra nekomata

How so? Tutoring itself is actually a good thing. I’d love to have a card that draws me cards that draws me cards. Deck thinning is a good thing.

It maybe. Im used to yugioh where things cant loop. :stuck_out_tongue:

Quick, somebody give this thing cat ears and a tail!

I can think of three uses for this minion:

  1. Use this as a draw engine in decks running many dying wish minions. Many lategame and swarm Lilith decks already run lots of dying wish minions, so this can serve as draw in those decks. That’s not even mentioning specially designed lurking fear / resurrection decks. However, the ability to draw 2 upon death does not seem good enough to justify a 4/2 stat line for 4 mana.

  2. Use this to fetch specific dying wishes. You can use these minions to help draw things like Vorpeal Reaver, Klaxon, Reaper of the 9 moons, or possible new dying wish minions that are key to some lategame scenario. However, since this can draw more copies of itself, the fetching effect is clumsy and slow.

  3. 4 colour cat tribal when multi-faction decks return. This minion marks Abyssian’s enters to the club of factions that have cats! Now all that’s left is Vanar and Magmar!

Strong card, but not OP, it enables nice deck building options and it’s not obvious how to use it properly. Likely a nice addition to the game, though I believe most Abyssian minions as of now are too fragile to allow one to reliably hit late game. Let’s wait for the next ones!
