My vote goes toward Syvrel, the Exile.

I’m certain he has synergy and use (mostly with backstab, I suppose), but he’s so hard to use to any degree of efficiency. I wanna see him shine.

I’ll go with E’xun, considering I had 2 copies of him. It does sound with flash reincarnation but seems not as good for other factions. Would be cool if it could be used for staple draw minion.

+1 for Syvrel.

I want to use it in a Magmar deck, to bring enemies in front of Vaath and remove them as efficiently as I can. Still, I didn’t have time to test the meme for now, still trying to hit Rank 10. I will definitely test it when I hit a safe spot

I’ve actually used it in a Vet deck before, placed behind obelysks to yank in enemies to kill with your dervishes. Worked alright, but it’s hard to get the setup running, and once you do you’re winning anyways. Works well with Rok and sometimes Sandtrap as well.

I actually like envybaer.
I got it from mindstealing a vaath, and that’s how I got lethal!

(I pushed him into the corner)

Speaking of mind steal, thats also a pretty fun card to play. One time I got a silithar elder. On turn 4!

I apologized to the poor guy afterwards

Syvrel also has a little bit of use with Vet. You can pull something into range to be killed by your short ranged minions or your obelysks that were pushed into a corner.

@BlankTrack also Siphon Energy and Entropic Decay

How about Koi and Silvertongue Corsair? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a deck which would utilize their effects (or even use them in the first place)

My favorite underplayed pet card is Firestarter. It’s secretly fringe playable in almost every faction (though Magmar definitely gets the least use out of it.)

Also, severely underrated is Ghost Lynx- which oddly enough gives most decks an out to ranged minions.

Wood-Wen is one of the more interesting pick-ups imo for cards that probably should get played but don’t (see also, Lady Locke.)

Mindwarper is a fairly awesome card most of the time.

White Widow and Grincher are sortof obviously good cards that just don’t get played because there isn’t a well received home for them.

Sworn Defender is a really strong beatstick, because minion health is such a strong resource.

Twilight Sorcerer is just highly underrated.

With the advent of the Grandmaster format, I believe Gnasher now has a place in Songhai sideboards as a tech card against Vaath when used in combination with Inner FOcus

The new Max Necro! :sunglasses:

Whoops. I forgot to check the date. Please do not smite me Papa Ryv.

Well… since it’s back around, I suppose I should report. I found no significant success with Syvrel. My greatest accomplishment can be seen in the meme topic where I airdropped Slo on turn one. I did get a few good matches where I locked down the enemy general with a mass of provoke minions and used Syvrel as removal for anything they dropped or face damage otherwise.

not a necro, have two weeks since the last post  So you barely made it before the auto lock

Come on ! Firestarter + Dance of Memes + plenty small spells !

I had fair success with Syvrel in a Faie deck, but due to currently only having 2, it is proving inconsistent at the moment. I legitimately plan to use Syvrel seriously should a 3rd one ever come around.

Viewing him as a 3 mana ranged minion, he almost always sticks on the board the first turn, and is such a great target for buffs.

Truely, a buffed Syvrel is scary. I’ve had my greatest success with Syvrel after dropping a Divine Bond on him (hooray for 4 HP). The only problem I find with this is how it’s counter intuitive with his ability.

The card wants you to think he’s useful for displacing minions. It is a powerful tool, but it requires assistance from other minions/spells to be capitalized on. When you buff Syvrel, he just becomes a big ranged threat that kills what he strikes, and makes his ability essentially useless. I’m not saying he’s bad for it, it’s just… annoying when you see it this way.

I think there is something to be said for posing a threat of displacement, removal or bringing something into range. In terms of comparison, Syvrel poses a fighting body compared to repulsor.

In the words of Aron Nimzowitsch, a chess master - ā€œThe threat is stronger than the execution.ā€
