Draw a line segment connecting the two centers of the circles, if the tangent line intersects it it’s an internal tangent; otherwise, it’s an external tangent line

dang ya’ll can’t you just roll a ruler around the circle so you can get an intuition of how it works?
trust me @galaxydueler
just spin a ruler around the edge of one of the circles. if it lines up as a tangent of the second circle, that’s one common tangent. once you’ve spun the circle all the way around, that means you’ve seen them all

Man I miss Malcom in the Middle. I own the first season of it but still need to get the rest. May as well order the complete series at this point.
