The Monolith Climb Reminder and Announcement on Bugs

The Monolith Climb is a single elimination 2 deck tournament that will be on the 31st at 11am CST.

A very important note about this tournament is that because friendly matches default to unlimited format and cannot be in standard format, cards that generate cards/spawn random minions(ex. Grimes) will still pull from shimzar. This will hopefully be fixed for the April tournament but for this tournament we will just have to deal with it. All decks must still follow standard format.

There is also the trial reset bug that is very easy to do accidentally and intentionally. If this is not hotfixed in time any use of the reset bug will be an automatic game loss. If this bug happens during a tournament match you are to contact me immediately on discord @TM87#8851.

To reset trials you must play and undo a multi-target cast.

Step 1. Left-Click healing mystic

Step 2. Left-Click on board to place Healing Mystic

Step 3. Right-Click to undo cast.

Doing this will reset a trial such as lyonar’s to 0/10.

There will also be a ban on certain interactions with hatefurnace. Any decks using this bug will not be allowed to be played. The list of interactions can be found here

Are they really that bad? its not like they make it much better.

I just have a couple questions regarding the ban on certain interactions with hatefurnace, based on its card text. You have the ability to run the tournament however you wish to, but it’s just to question whether the mentioned interactions with hatefurnace are bugs or working as intended.

  • Hatefurnace’s text does not specify that a friendly minion has to be buffed, so you could consider its bug with primal ballast to be working as intended (a minion is getting buffed by the spell you casted, even if that minion is not your own) .

  • This second one is more of a stretch, but Hatefurnace specifies that you need to play 5 spells that give minions attack. With the other listed interactions, a soul is causing a minion’s own ability to gain attack. This interaction parallels Cassyva’s interaction with the Abyssian Mythron, where while her bbs’ s text does not specify destroying a friendly minion (outside of summoning a creep tile if the ping kills) it can still proc the trial if it kills a friendly unit. While the spells themselves in the mentioned interactions do not specify giving a minion attack, playing them triggers the minion gaining attack (or indirectly causes the minion to gain attack by a spell).

I strongly disagree with your second point.

In Cass it is the spell that destroyed a minion. And it’s OK. It’s a spell, and it destroyed a minion.

In case of e.g. Thraex it is actually minion ability which buffed a minion. While the card says specifically “spells that increase attack”.

Whether it is intended or not, the second case contradicts card text, while the first one doesn’t.

I disagree with your evaluation. The thing that Cassyva’ s BBS and the interaction with the mentioned minions have in common is that they only proc the trial under specific circumstances. In Cassyva’s case, you need to use her bbs on a minion that would cause it to die immediately by the spell cast (which in most situation would be with a friendly minion having one health). In the case of those minions, Thraex and Red Minos can only activate their buff if a specific spell (bbs) is casted. The same is found with the draw cards and the grow quillbeast interaction, where playing spells directly cause minions to be buffed.

Let’s say you have a Thraex, Red Minos, and Visionar on the board and you cast Starhorn’s BBS. That BBS should count as 1 spell count, because that 1 spell proc immediately caused minions to be buffed. However, if it counted more than once, than it would be considered a bug, because only 1 spell was casted that caused minion(s) to be buffed.

Well, dunno, I’m still not convinced, but until a word from the devs we won’t know if it is a bug or not.

The Hatefurnace bug is a bug @Ryvirath had said on discord that it was.

They are significant especially the full list of interactions i have just received and will update shortly

The primal ballast interaction ia dispelling enemy general where no minion is buffed at all.
Minos is a selfbuff trigged off a spell.
These are confirmed bugs, if they become features of the card later after testing this ban will be lifted but as it is these are unintended and will not be allowed to be played
