Duelyst Forums

The Duelyst Wiki Appeal!

Hi all!

As the release date for the new expansion inches closer, I would like to post a request for editing contributions.

The wiki is a very important tool for this community and especially for new players looking for help or information.
The wiki has come a long way over the last year. I started working on it in April and found some people to organize a new wiki team. The team has changed over time and everybody who took part added their own imprints to the site, but there is still much to improve on. And for that we need your help!

Right now we are mainly working on the following:

-Linking tokens to their “creators’” pages, so that you can see at first glance what you need to know, like this.

-Overhauling the General pages with more information about archetypes and strategies for them

-Updating a lot of images on the keyword pages to present the game in its actual state and adding images to the keywords that have no pictures at all

You can also help by adding strategies or interactions between certain cards. Sometimes you find out something new for yourself in a game or you read something in the forum or on discord and reddit. Or you are trying stuff in the sandbox. This you can just go to the wiki’s page and add the information  This is such a big help for us!

You could also pick an area you want to help in, like working on the fan art (which needs an overhaul, to be honest), on the boss battles, the lethal puzzles, keeping the content creators list up to date, or any other area you are interested in. That’s all the stuff I mostly do on my own right now.

If you have any ideas as to what the wiki should also have but is missing right now, we are always looking for input.

It is pretty easy to work with the wiki / gamepedia and it isn’t a big time commitment to do some edits at all! After a few times you find out how to quickly do edits on the fly and the help pages are also very good. Most of the stuff is self explanatory. And if not, you can always ask us

We are a small but good team right now. /u/mycroft92 is our go-to guy for Python but he could use some support. So if you are interested and know some Python, he already set up a lot of scripts and bots you can build upon.
Although bots make things a lot easier and are very welcome (like for creating all new card pages when the next expansion hits) there is still a lot of good old editing work to be done. And your help with that would be invaluable!

What we offer:

-Being part of the community’s best information tool, seeing how your contributions help other people, and interacting with the community

-Working on the wiki also means being in closer contact with the devs and asking them for favors

-Greatly improving your understanding of the game because we know all the important interactions and many more obscure ones too!

-We also have a nice discord server where we hang out and have nice talks about life, Duelyst, and the wiki

The wiki needs its community to participate in order to be the tool that the community needs and the more people contributing means the faster we can develop the wiki and the less work it is for everyone involved.
If you are interested in all this, please send me a pm or leave a message here so I can get back to you!

I also want to thank @Ryvirath and @diplodoraptor who contributed a lot in the past year but can’t anymore because of life  Thanks!
Also thanks to the Gamepedia team who always actively solves our CSS problems and answers our questions. Finally, thanks to Thanatos for the great contact between the wiki and the devs!

Okay, end of appeal. Thank you in advance for your editorial donations!

I bet I could help with this if you would like, I have experience messing around with different decks

I can do the same as well.

You don’t need to be a S-rank player or someone with two years of experience to contribute. Most of the stuff we want to put on the wiki is pretty basic.

We would be very glad about that! Here are all generals listed: https://duelyst.gamepedia.com/Category:General

You can just go and edit whatever you want. And don’t worry about messing stuff up, I check all recent changes and there is a rollback function too if it went terribly wrong

That is the only way to do it, also I’m confident I’m going to hit S with a 1018 meta deck.

Well as a counter, I can beat many of the top players like beating munkbusiness 3/4 times I played against him and recently just beat Alphacentury in an incredibly well fought game.

I just beat a random silver player with no ribbons

beat that

I did the same, 9 times in a row yesterday.

What’s this deck???

In the long gone ages of beta a card called Jax truesight defined the meta, using razorback on it usually won the game so mid faie was considered pretty good.

I’m still using that, it works

Yeah, Freud’s deck is pretty lit.

I saw someone added a lot of good work to the Ragnora page. I don’t know who it was, I assume one of you. It is helpful if you create a Twitch account or use your existing twitch account to login.

I edited it in a way that it fits to the formatting guidelines we have and added links to cards and abilities mentioned in the article.

Great work! Thanks for that

That was me. I just don’t know much about the formatting guidelines. A link here to it would be appreciated.
I’m also logged in with my twitch account now. Did a few link changes before that though.

You already know how to handle links, that is great

Guidelines for editing articles (there aren’t many):

  1. Use == == for creating sections, === === for under sections
  2. Card names should be capitalized e.g. Egg Morph
  3. Link the first mention of an ability or a card that exists on the wiki with [[ ]] (you can do more than the first mention if you want to)
  4. If you add several points to a section please use * at the beginning of every point.

Thanks, you did a great job!
