Sweep the board or die?

This is how i feel while playing vs lyonar, if they retain a minion of 3 or more mana cost i loose. They buff it with divine bond and hit for a third of the generals hp.

This is not very fun to play against, having to remove every single minion past turn 3 or risk instantly loosing. Other factions have similar out of hand win conditions but none are so ridiculous to play around.
Crescendo and grimwar require multiple minions on board, vet needs multiple artifacts to stick and to have certain to pull theirs off, but lyonar just needs 1 minions with modest amount of hp, and the faction is full of such minions.

Does anyone have any tips to help me vs this faction?

This is why people dislike DB

And for some reason, Lyonar is still an average faction, if that. Be smart with your trades, positioning and what you decide to keep in your hand. He’s not that hard to deal with. Sure, sometimes you’ll get fucked by not having a removal which will result in you getting hit for 23 but shit happens man.

basically if you have no hard removal past his 5 core turn, you lost.
Better keep 2 removal, we never know.

Basically, besides tombstone and Ironcliff every of their minion can be traded with the ones you have on the board+ general.

You better hope for an OnyxBS/ EggMorph/ Aspect of the fox when he hits 5 core.

I think the issue people have is the one-noteness of DB.

In Abyssian, there’s soooo many incentives to have a swarm of units- Shadow Watcher, Keliano, Dfc, Grimwar, Shadow Dancer, Soulshatter, bloodmoon priestess- they all get better with more things on board.

But in Lyonar, what do you gain from a single fat minion? In theory you can heal it, but in practice due to hard removal smaller minions are no worse for procing heal effects- something just needs to live a turn, and your opponent might not waste hard removal on a smaller minion. The only real advantage lyonar gets from fatties is potential divine bond plays. And for that to be sufficient reason to play a bunch of fat minions, DB pretty much needs to be able to close the game for you.

If lyonar had other decent wincons it wouldnt feel like the entire faction rests on one broken-ass card. DB is somewhat like a Nova that can go off starting around turn 3 for a sudden 10+ damage on one target, with counterplay being: hard remove their shit, or run away. It’s not super engaging.

So, DB is great and all, but there are only three in a deck. Each deck must be able to win in other fashions DB’s are more like icing. Especially when the generals BBS gives +2, the DB is nice, but is not sole reason Lyonar can win.

Plus, there are other factions that can drop big creatures early. Magmar, flash anything + amplification. So, on turn 2 you can be facing a 6/6 Makantor. Abyssian can drop fast easily with darkfire sacrifice.

To play around it like zerafut said you need hard removal, or bounce either back to hand or across the map. Repulsor beast anyone?

Each deck has win conditions, a big part of any game is to recognize your opponents win conditions and try to prepare early for it. I know when I play against Mech anything I hold onto whatever answer that deck has and just find other ways to deal with other threats.

Good luck and I vote recognize the enemy and be ready to handle your opponents win/con.
