This is true. It seems all it takes is one largely successful franchise and then other companies copy their formula, making only trivial changes here and there. It’s evident in every genre.
As far as MMOs are concerned for me, it’s there structure of the game in for it’s designed to make you do small repetitive take with no significant reward. The grinding nature just enables you with told to grind more.
To be fair, I thoroughly enjoy the social aspect of these games. I feel great satisfaction when I’m experienced and able to help others in the game. But that’s not enough for me, sadly.
