Huldra is spoiled and examined by Mogwai! Check out his video here:

If you can’t wait however here is the card as well

FYI the video is fun but NSFW if you have the audio on.

Excuse me, dont mind me, just coming through with my arctic displacer, dont worry… I’m gonna be comboing all day long. Thanks counterplay, for giving us this amazingly powerful card that actually does stuff with in faction tribes

Let’s give the displacer rush too, really gonna work in a Kara deck heheheheh…

just kidding, but overall cool concept, I always wanted to see more tribal synergies, and this vespyr one is just the start of something great I hope, and while we are at it lets make golem deck a thing now shall we?

It enables a 20 damage combo with displacer but requires 3 cards and a setup. Seeing how displacer has air drop and how he can be consistently drawn with Cyro, the deck revolving around this idea might just work.

But then on the other side, there already is a 9 mana 14 damage combo in form of ryhno + sotw which only requires infilitrate as a setup and it isn’t really used in any deck as of now. Is adding an extra card in the combo and requiring a setup from the previous turn really worth the 6 extra damage? I’m not sure, probably?

I like the card, it does seem fun. I just hope it doesn’t end up being totally unfun getting smacked for 20 implying a deck revolving around it ends up existing. It’s also worth mentioning how the card just might be good by itself, without that specific combo in mind, it all depends on what vespyr minions we’ll end up getting.

Oh and lets not forget how this is 5/6 in kara and totally OP~

Now let’s watch Mog’s vid, I wonder how different our opinions are since he is obviously going to be biased, him being a vanar main and all :smile_cat:

Right now, it seems pretty darn good. To put it into perspective, Zen’rui and Keeper of the Vale also have similar stat lines and cost the same amount of mana. The ability is less powerful for board control, but may provide strong burst. Keep in mind that this combos with frostfire on turn seven. If this was added to the game right now, with no other Vespyrs or Vespyr synergy, it would not be that great, but the introduction of other Vespyrs may push it over the top.

Good for vespyr decks, but you need a vespyr on the field before hand to really make sure the combo works. Lots of ideas coming to mind with this card, how about a 7/7 with provoke and celerity? (ancient grove)

Now this guy is worth 5 mana. Hitting a Songhai or a Magmar with this is going to feel…fair and balanced.

3/4 on this vs. 3/3 on Failshark is a puzzler on the order of 3/5 on Taygete vs. 3/4 on Saon. ? =S ? I guess we will just have to chuck another one up to the enigma that is the Dev Patronage Program™. =S

These statlines feel pulled out of a hat sometimes… I really wonder how they work. Personal theory: minions that support more ‘popular’ playstyles get better statlines so the status quo doesn’t change too much.

Great card though. I will be playing ramp/aggro Faie with this some point in the future.

Oh yes, more Vespyr interaction. OH YES.

Shimzar definitely looks like it’s promoting the gameplay identity of factions, I love this. Plus the 5-cost is just enough to make you carefully consider the card without making it an auto-include :>

To much set up to be that scary but a snowchaser with frostfire seems workable.

Are you ready to get beaten to death by a celerity bonechill barrier?

For Hundra work was to be cheap enough to be used with it like snow chaser /Crystal cloaker or strong enough survive like Draugar lord /Ancient Grove or place were nothing can hit it like Arctic displacer.I wouldn’t get to excited about “the dream.”

The dream

5 mana-drop Displacer
6 mana-play Hundra
7 mana -aspect of drake+snow chaser or Hearth sister.

I dont think the dream is that viable.I forgot one scenario for making it work which is just fill your deck with vespyrs. If almost every minion is a vespyr then Hundra effect has to work.So how many playabe vespyr chaser, cloaker, draguar lord, grove which is 16 cards( 19 if you include glacial). In just looking at it .I think they need at least good a 3 and 4 mana vespyr to try that route.

Also I think now something needs to happen to tiger.Vanar doesn’t burst finsher with Spirt of Wild, Hearth sister/drake a large minion to close space and now Hundra.Make Kara require a board to do burst

Oh lord yes! Vanar is my second favorite faction and this card looks amazing! My only gripe is that we haven’t seen a single freaking Magmar card!

My thoughts exactly.

hail hudra :smiling_imp:

While I was taking a walk, I came to the startling revelation on how similar this is to the old Lantern For (3/3 celerity for 5 that summons a copy of itself). This thing’s ability is somewhat easy to activate since it is fairly easy to get a Vespyr to stick, and when it does, may trigger some Wombo-combos with Vanar buffs, like how the old Lantern Fox worked

Granted, the current Vanar attack buffs and movement cards are more expensive than Songhai buffs and movement (Frostfire, Hearth sister and the new Lightning Blitz VS Saberspine Seal, Mist Dragon Seal and Juxtaposition), but, if more cheap Vanar attack buffs or movement spells are introduced in Shimzar, Wombo Combo Vanar may be a possibility.

For example:
if a snowchaser or Winter Myraid (Voice of the Wind spawn) sticks,
7 mana, frostfire + Huldra for 2+8 damage burst

if a crystal Cloaker sticks
7 mana, frostfire + Huldra for 4+10/2+8 damage burst
7 mana, primus fist + Huldra for 4+8/2+6 damage burst
9 mana, add in Hearthsister to do it from anywhere

Even with these seemingly insignificant Vespyrs, this card may enable pretty big combos

Not to salt against Vanar in special but maybe more against what I’ve seen so far from Shimzar (including Lyonar and Abyssian cards): I’m not shure if I want to see all these “pretty big combos” in Duelyst. Seems like the game walks in the direction “whoever gets out his big combo first wins”.
I know the information we have right now is pretty incomplete and it’s too early for a final judgement but it seems that Shimzar brings a lot of powerful cards - and I’m a little bit afraid that the game goes in a direction where “pretty big combos” will dominate the game for the price of tactical decisions.

If I would like playing the combo game I would play Songhai now. But I don’t want to because this minimizes interaction with the opponent. I like the zoo play and it seems to me that Shimzar pushes the game to the non-interactice combo side of playing…
