Shimzar Spoilers Day 12: Mirror Meld

Hsuku reveals Songhais new spell here: https://www.twitch.tv/hsuku/v/84474760?t=3h28m55s

For those of you who can’t wait though here is the card:

Seems decent on paper. It enables some neat combos like with boar + saberspine which is 10 damage for 3 cards and 5 mana. It’s comparable (probably worse) to the Warbeast combo which is also 3 cards, but is instead 6 mana and has frenzy too. Card can however also be used to just copy a 2 drop if you need more board so that makes it a bit more versatile. It can be used to pull of some huge damage combos but I don’t think it’s going to be reliable what so ever. It seems to me how the card will be the most used as a 2nd set of boars. I don’t know much about Songhai but the card does look decent, purely because of it’s versatility

Seems interesting… buut 2 questions

Does the nearby refer to nearby your general? or near the friendly minion?

Does it also copy all the buffs you stacked onto it?

This card is going to give even other Songhai nightmares.

My guess is that this copies buffs on the target which is going to make it even better than it already appears, which is pretty solid.

This might just give a reason to play Tusk Boar with Shadow Waltz. If it can survive a turn without being Inner Focused then you’d end up with 2 4/4s that grow from attacking (5/5s if you also have MDS).

if i lower the cost of a minion to 2 and then play it and try to copy it, will it work?

You mean Gore Horn?

I had the same thought. Does “costs 2 or less” factor in cost reduction cards like Shadow Waltz?

I do believe there is precedent for copies including buffs.

All in all, sounds like fun. I don’t know enough about the other factions to know for sure, but it seems like Songhai’s cards are all fairly solid and open up new possibilities. All their revealed cards have seemed at least decent. How does this compare to other factions’ revealed cards so far? Many of the other faction cards seem hit or miss from the comments I’ve been reading.

In other words, as a set, Songhai seems to be winning the “draft” so far (though other factions may have an individually better card here and there). Would people agree with that perception?

Copying a minion that’s already been buffed definitely copies the buffs as well - the classic example is Ash Mephyt in Kara decks.

Yep, beat me to it. That definitely works. The real archetype would be mirage master but I have no experience with that card outside of a daily challenge (and I don’t remember if it worked there.)

Oh yeah, Gore Horn. Oops :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d say that Song’Hai’s got some good cards so far, but aside from their Divine Bond nerf Lyonar is still definitely in the lead: Ironcliffe Heart and Fiz are BANANAS, not even mentioning Sky Phalanx.

I can definitely see the argument that Lyonar is leading. I don’t play them hardly ever (don’t even have Ironcliffes), but they do seem solid. I definitely think Sky Phalanx is the best of the 8-cost spell cycle so far. (Still trying to imagine what a Songhai player would want to spend 8 mana on more than 8 direct damge…but we’ll see.)

Chakri -> if -> killing edge -> mds -> mirror meld = 20 damage out of hand
Or any other combo with chakri/if/mirror meld and buffs really
Throw in saberspine seals or juxtapositions instead, do it with tusk boar and you dont even need IF. Old lantern fox strat is back, oo rah. :grinning:

I always loved running aethermaster in songhai…

It was mentioned on Twitter that there would be a SonghaI card that might enable possible OTK’s, this might be it.

Look balanced and fun to play. Very nice design.

In terms of Burst, this lets you essentially give a Tusk Boar celerity for one turn; not the best of combos. In terms of tempo, you can use this to duplicate buffs. I like it. If used on Xho, you even get a card out of it!

It functions identically to fractal rep.

mini fractal replication  i like this card and this card enables very good combos like tusk boar/chakri + buffs.
