Looks like a Songhai card and it looks Magmar isnt the only faction with Warbeast now.

It bares noting that Dagger Kiri a 2/8 Celerity minion exists that cost 5 and nobody plays it in Songhai.

I’ve seen it in some gimmick songhaï strat trying to replicate the old fox combo
Add to this the fact that sword of mechaz0r is played as well in some gimmicky Songhaï decks and you have the perfect Songhaï gimmick card

I wonder why EVERYONE thinks about songhai when seeing this…
It has celerity so the weakest aspect of frenzy just isnt there nymore and any buff makes this carzy…and its a 5 drop.
By why is that so important? Welp it woud be ad with 1+/1+ as an 6 drop but 5 drops and 3 drops are some of the most simple to summon minion due to the curve we have and how they woud perfectly fit into most curves.
Will like this in magmar…just a thread in the 5 mana slot where not may minion REALLY shine…

This is the second card in a row (after Sodomo) I don’t like. I was so hyped about Shimzar and the more I know about it the more I’m disillusionated.
I promise to try to keep the hype up but the last two cards… don’t seem to be healthy for the game. We still don’t know much about Shimzar so this is my hope.

I don’t see the issue. Both cards look painfully average. Trying to evaluate the cards based on the best case scenario considering the current set of cards is what’s unhealthy. 9moons is a typical example of an unhealthy design. Both of the revealed cards don’t even compare to it.

It’s good card with obvious strong points (Songhai), but it’s also weak to cards like Zenrui, grovekeeper, and plasma storm. While Songhai is the only faction that could gain immediate value with this card, it could also work in Lyonar with divine bond fire to celerity.

It is werid how people are evaluating stuff for me.The actually game isn’t played like that nothing survives for more than a turn unanswered.
There is a four cost five health minion name Taygete and metagame has evolved around killing it and Beastmaster is far easier to kill. I said it before we already have Dagger Kiri,If people ain’t inner focus +Saberspine with Dagger Kiri it ain’t happening Beastmaster. I am not the most skilled player but I have tried Kiri in Lyonar and Songhai.It doesn’t really work.If Lux inginus (which you play hiding in the back )doesnt work in Lyonar this won’t work either.
I hope I am wrong ,Maybe they add new card that makes it work but if the new meta is close to this meta.It won’t work consistently enough to be used outside inner focus.Anyways off to put Lux inginus in Healnar again see if I can make it work
I see what your saying in regards to bigger that’s such as Taygete, but I don’t think beast master should be compared to daggered Kiri. While they both have celerity, beast master has frenzy, which by itself is a powerful keyword ability, and with celerity it has the potential to control a larger area of the board compared to other frenzy effects by attack, changing position, and attacking again. I would like to test this card out when the expansion comes, due to its potential to be a great board control tool for certain control decks. Dagger Kiri is more of a budget win condition, and doesn’t have frenzy to deal with the board, which is the main thing that sets then apart.
I think it is good card.Just Inner focus and Beastmaster is good enough,5 health is enough to survive 2 swings so it basically Warbeast imo.
What I don’t agree with is the big dream of buffing it and doing crazy damage.Nobody will let live for a turn.Anyways I am looking forward to it anything that can possibly make opponent use removal might have use at some point.
