Hai!
The majority of Vetruvian decks that you usually see run only a few spells and fill the rest with neutral minions. The faction completely loses its identity… They are so simple and boring to play with…
Anyway, I’ve been working on these 2 decks for the past week and I found some success with them: Sabo-Sajj with artifacts and Sabo-Zirix with Dervish synergy:
Sajj comes first:

This is where the idea came from: I wanted a deck that reflects the Vetruvian playstyle and not some boring deck with only neutrals… So sabotage came in my mind: A deck where I could take full advantage of Blindscorch… Sajj has a good synergy with it as she can hit for lots of damage without taking damage in return and preserving her artifacts.
Winrates
As you can see, it completely shits on Songhai, it has a good chance against Magmar, Lyonar and f*king Kara. They rely too much on their minions, Sajj can easily 1 shot them and take advantage of their lack of mobility blasting from a distance. Only problem is… Cassyva… Oh well… This deck is slowish you can’t possibly kill that… devil before 7 mana. You can slow her down with Lightbenders and copying/stealing Vorpal reavers, Spectral Revenants and Reaper of the Nine Moons, that’s the only way you’ll have a chance against her…
Now the Zirix version:

I know what you’re thinking: “Holy shit that’s a lot of spells!” I know
This takes the Sajj version as a base: I took out the Sajj stuff and put in some Zirix stuff. This version is more close-combat while the Sajj version is a long-ranged one, and it’s a bit faster. I added Entropic decay to help with the Lyonar, Magmar and Kara matchups as they can easily overwhelm you with overstatted minions if you get too close to them.
Winrates
I was really surprised to see that they have an identical overall winrate. They use the same base so yeah…
It still shits on Songhai, it has a pretty good chance against Lilithe, Lyonar, Magmar and f*king Kara. It has a better chance against Cassyva because its a faster version so if you draw well you can rush her down before the nova bombs start.
Card Choices:
-
Spelljammer: Card draw engine of choice. I used to run Sojourner and L’kian, then I switched to Spelljammer to see if she’s any good and… The deck became much faster! so I’m sticking with her. Sojourner is a good choice for slower decks but you risk a Zen’Rui.
-
Rasha’s Curse in the Sajj version: The first builds didn’t run it, I added it after being destroyed by double Arclyte Regalia. You can’t do anything about it! It also helps in the Vetruvian mirror to make the opposing Sajj cry.
-
Third Whish: With Fireblaze Obelysk… It’s a pretty good finisher not gonna lie. I won the majority of the game because my opponent ran away from my Obelysk instead of dealing with it.
-
2x Siphon Energy and 2x Lightbenders: Because you never have enough dispel.
-
2x Wildfire Ankh and 3x Hexblade: My go-to set of artifacts for my mirange and control Sajj decks, they’re soo good. You’ll never regret having a Hexblade in hand, trust me.
How to pilot:
There is not a correct way to pilot a deck, so just give them a try and find the one that you’re most comfortable with instead of following instructions.
I can give you some helpful tips:
-
Never replace your artifacts.
-
Never replace Blindsorch, it can come in handy sooner or later.
-
Bait removal first with your Obelysks/Saon/Second wished provokes before summoning Aymara.
-
Always keep a Mirage Master in hand against Magmar
-
Always keep a Zen’Rui-Blindscorch/Dominate Will in hand when you reach 6 mana (except against Songhai)
-
This one is tricky, it only applies to Zirix: Summon an Obelysk far away, yeah, yeah, “but how am I supposed to get value out of it?” You only need it to give your Poop Dervishes +1 attack, that’s it. If your opponent wants to waste a removal on it, fine, if they want to waste resources to reach it, fine, if they want to run away from it, gorgeous! Then wait for good Stars’ Fury or a Third Wish and a Dunecaster to finish up the game
No one expects an 8/7 flying Dervish!
Well, do you recommend to grind with them?
Mmh… dunno…
(Alternating between the two of them)
They can compete just fine in Gold, but you might start to struggle approaching Diamond, especially if you run too much into Cassyva.
I can’t guarantee you to have a ~70% winrate, it all depends on you and your clever thinking.
It’s so satisfying to win with them… You win with actual strategy instead of brainlessly dropping overstatted minions to win…
This is the base of the deck if you want to build your own around it:

Have fun!
My other decks:

That alone should be a sign that changes need to be made (regardless if the faction/general is good or bad).
