kaleos spellhai adjusted after last patch

good against abyssian, argeon, magmar, and reva (less good against the fast aggro version)

ok-ish against aggro and bad against sim city/oasis zirix, kara, and healyonar

a lot less bursty than the previous version (S in 57 wins with Kaleos spellhai) because of saberspine nerf. matches are just a tad more grindy/board control oriented with the addition of twin strike and double owlbeast sage.

should do ok against aggro decks with triple battle panddo and double twin strike but if you are still having problems, you might wanna consider switching out the boars for ghost lightnings. the boar spot is pretty flexible.

Quick questions :

  • why not Reva ?
  • is Kaleos BBS really useful ? as it’s conditionnal (having at least 1 minion on board that you can move), again, won’t Reva be better to pump your Arcanysts ?
  • usual win condition ? boosted Arcanyst you teleport to contact for kill, or usual “survive and attrition until Spiral” ?
  • isn’t Owlbear insta removed/dispelled on summon ? That’s my main issue with Arca decks.
  • only missing a 3rd Eclipse, maybe gonna replace with a 2d Spiral, or a 3rd Mask, thoughts ?

  1. I just like kaleos better. sentimental values

  2. kaleos has good synergy with juxtaposition (summon minion, bbs it away, jux to get rid of scary minion or get things out of the way to deal damage to face), and the bbs allows you to play your minions very safe in general, which is very important for this deck. reva spellhai has a harder time with positioning, especially against magmar (heartseeker + four winds magi = makantor).
    With the recent nerfs on dispell in general, kaleos’ ability to summon threats and teleport it to safety is insanely good. once you get your arcanysts into play and start casting BBS, it doesn’t really matter if you are playing reva or kaleos, at least in my opinion.
    also good for getting sneaky lethals.

  3. half and half depending on the match up or the situation.

  4. with kaleos less danger of being dispelled. always be mindful of positioning (lightbender, sunbloom, etc.) rule of thumb: never play a naked owlbeast unless that’s your only possible play. always combo it with a spell and away from potential dispels. i find it quite easy to make them stick with this deck actually

  5. i would recommend against +1 spiral or mask. one more spiral seems too bulky for the deck and with an extra mask you could run into hand size problems. would recommend another card draw option, maybe spelljammer?

Spelljammer is possible, but don’t really like one-offs in “serious” decks :frowning:
Maybe a 3rd Owlbear|Juxta|Twin …

One think is sure, I’m gonna give it a try … maybe first time for me I’ll play Kaleos (loving it) without any backstab minion :laughing:
I guess it works nicely versus Wallnar ?

Very nice deck, thanks for sharing. Which part of the ladder are you playing it at atm? Also three panddo and no deastrike seal? Have you tried it in this deck?

i personally never felt the need for death strike seals. with 3 battle panddos and 2 twin strikes your early board control is pretty good, and you still have the 3 bear seals and 2 juxtapositions for big minions. and if you are facing a huge board of big minions, you are pretty much screwed anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

True, I love that combo with IF but it’s pretty situational and empties your hand too much. When it works it’s lot of fun😃

What make the Healyonar matchup difficult? I don’t play Songhai, but Healyonar is usually kind of a pushover when I face them.

After some testing (just replaced an Eclipse with a Juxta), I confirm, 6 match mid-gold, 4 loss (sim/heal/kara x2), 2 wins (reva, faie).

Feedback : seems it’s a bit slow on start, maybe not enough 2 drops, hard to answer fast decks and keep board clean despit panddo and spell. Twin is always clunky with the 2 target condition, most of the time it’s a dead card I have to replace … consequence : lacking of draw :frowning:
Also, Owlbear only survived one match without being destroyed/silenced the turn after cast.

Congrats if you managed to climb up to S with it because it’s far from easy, at least in my humble gold :slight_smile:

Maybe I’m gonna tweak it a little, something like :

  • 2 blood
  • 2 tusk
    +1 chakri
  • 3 manaforger
    Reason : still only 6x 2drops but more arcanyst synergy, also may help cast spells cheaper and forgers may lure for dispell/removal, so … less on owlbears

Also :

  • 2 twin
  • 1 eclipse
  • 1 owlbear
  • 2 spelljammer
    Emphazing again on Arcanysm and adding some draw.

Advices ?

if you want to go for the arcanyst route, i suggest you look into CCalmify/scientist/zooch/wickedflux’s lists on managlow.com

Gave this deck a whirl since I’ve haven’t played for a while, and I really wanted to play Kaleos again…switched up Mana Vortex with 1x each of Mist Dragon Seal, Killing Edge and Saberspine Seal.

With the nerfed Foxes and Mana Vortex, it seems just a tad underwhelming though…but still fun to play :slight_smile:

Let’s just say we’re usually really happy when you play those Four-Winds Magi… Healyonar has a lot of 4 Health minions (surviving Phoenix Fire) and control cards and is able to restore Health to the General making it difficult to actually finish us off. I tend to do very well against all Songhai decks with my Healyonar.

yeah with the mana vortex nerf this deck should be even crappier than before :smiley:

if you want i can give you an updated version of the deck - whole lot slower and more board-control oriented

I do have a question about the list though, why Azure Herald? Would think that Healing Mystic would have better synergy with the “on-hit” minions (Sojourner, Lantern Fox, Panddo)
