Rank the Generals/Factions for Upcoming Expansion!

I thought it’d be fun to open up a thread where everyone puts a tier list of how they think generals and/or factions will do when the expansion hits; this way, we can go back and see who best judged it!

Good luck!

1st magmar abyssian tied first place basically aggro vs lategame

2nd reva and kaleos because calligrapher opens a world of burst

3 vanar might be a thing tied with tempo argeon if its still viable

4 vets and ziran we gotta see how they fair against the super aggro super control decks

  1. Vaath
  2. Zir’an
  3. Reva
  4. Lillithe
  5. Cassyva
  6. Faie
  7. Argeon
  8. Zirix
  9. Sajj
  10. Kaleos
  11. Kara
  12. Starhorn

It’s pretty hard to guess what the meta is going to look like, so I fully expect to be far off.

  1. Magmar - Some serious potential, Lavaslasher is pretty good.
  2. Vanar - Some great swarm tools, a nice ramp spell, and some great ending potential in Serpahim + Spirit of the Wild. Plus, has the AOE to kill Arcanysts and Sirocco, so they might end up high-tier.
  3. Vetruvian - Some powerful tools in Dreamshaper and Blood of Air to give them draw and ranged removal.
  4. Songhai - I don’t really know much about this faction, so it’s hard for me to asses how good they’ll be. Still, the Bangel OTK seems at least somewhat viable,so there’s that.
  5. Abyssian - Maybe I’m underestimating their strength, but I don’t see anything they can do with their cards. Nocturne gets removed instantly, and it seems hard to actually get lots of arcanysts on the board and still have 4 mana left over for the Nightshroud.
  6. Lyonar - They didn’t really get anything that could fit into the standard Argeon deck. Sure, you could make a Golem, but the Golems they got don’t seem to be all that great, so why bother? But, maybe their old tools will still be able to pull them through.

To all people rating Argeon that low: He did not need to get anything. His old decks will work perfectly fine and will trounce most decks using new cards, just by killing them or outpressuring them before they even go online.

Magmar
Abyssian
Vanar
Lyonar
Songhai
Vetruvian

Its hard to know for certain, but I feel that is the order. Although I think I might have put Vanar too high and should be 5th.

Magmar looks like to have gotten the best deal from this expansion, everyone agrees that the 3 minions they got are strong and Godhammer could have some interesting things going on. Abyssian has 2 good looking cards that don’t need to be in an Arcanyst type deal with Nocturne and Blood Echoes. Vanar has a good Mana ramp card, a cheap instant kill artifact (on stunned minions), a 3 mana with two 3/3s and a late game card that allows for a free spell each turn. Lyonar got 2 good Golems at the very least although I doubt that Golem Lyonar is better than the current Lyonar decks. Arcanyst Songhai might be a too gimmicky and older decks might be better. Vet is Vet, even though they got ranged removal, a 2 mana 2/2 draw 2 cards and Sirocco. I don’t think its enough to take them off the bottom since you need a golem deck to make two of those cards work well.

Haven’t touched on neutral stuff since different people would want different neutrals in the deck, although I just realised that there isn’t an epic neutral card looking at this (https://duelyst.com/ancient-bonds) unless there is a misprint of the cards on the site. Since there is 1 common, 7 rares and 1 legendary neutral cards.

  1. Argeon
  2. Reva
  3. Faie
  4. Vaath
  5. Zirix
  6. Cass
  7. Zir’an
  8. Lillithe
  9. Kara
  10. Kaleos
  11. Sajj
  12. Starhorn

I think most people are rating how good the factions would be using decks focused around the new cards, not just how strong they will be in general. Everyone knows lyonar is beef, and slo nerf was just a love tap to its strength.

That’s not what the OP asked.
