Ranged units ruin this game

Throw out a ranged unit into a corner, buff it, place more next to it, pick off whatever the enemy summons. Don’t worry about them reaching your minions, since they can only move 2 spaces at a time and can only summon within a 1-space range, they’ll never even make it to your ranged units and if they do they are nearly dead by the time they do it anyway. Oh they casted a spell to destroy one? no worries thats all they can do for this turn just go ahead and summon some more… gimme a break…

But if you answer it they are at a serious mana disadvantage. Most are answerable to such a degree that you really don’t see them played outside of Songhai Reva, who can summon them from her Bloodbound spell.
Not to mention a ranged minion has little board presence besides from damage. It can’t stop a big minion from moving forward, and will eventually, commonly, cause the ranged player to lose board.
Perhaps post your deck to the forums? That way more experienced players can see if you have enough answers to the ranged threat?

Sounds like you need to play some more ranged removal, or play less gauntlet.

Just playing threats before they get their ranged units set up can mean an easy victory, it takes time to play a ranged unit, buff and protect it.

either that or someone needs to upgrade their vet deck to include blood of air

Ranged units are definitely threatening. What keeps them in check is that they’re understatted for their cost (e.x. Arrow Whistler is a 2/4, while Thunderhorn is a 4/5, both for 4 mana).

By being understatted, there are more cards readily available to deal with them. Cards like Tempest and Plasma Storm can deal with multiple ranged threats at once. Blistering Skorn is a great neutral card to deal with Reva’s Heartseekers, and it’s a strong tempo play. If your opponent chooses to buff one up, they’re putting more resources into a single unit, so cards such as Aspect of the Ravager, Punish, and a more tech-like option in Crossbones, really set that player back. There are a lot of cheap removal cards in this game, so investing too much into one unit usually ends up in having the unit answered while giving your opponent tempo at the same time, at which point, you may not have time to play another ranged threat because you have to deal with your opponent’s threat.

It’s risk vs reward when playing with ranged units. I’m not sure how long you’ve been playing, but I promise you that learning how to deal with ranged units is a common obstacle for newer players to overcome. If you watch upper-ladder players, you’ll find that ranged spam isn’t something you see. So I promise, it’s not as bad as it seems. And there’s a wonderful community of people ready to lend you their ears.

thanks for the advice. I don’t expect to answer everything and I don’t mind losing at all, but it’s just lame when you have to spend all of your effort trying to clear those only to end up with low health or a loss by the time you do. everything else I can usually deal with it’s just the ranged get out of control too fast.

play less gauntlet? lol its that or ranked. what else is there to do?

yeah I just started a week ago, I saw a post where someone stated the same thing. I guess I will see eventually

Saberspine Tiger erases almost every ranged minion in the game, and most that you are going to see. I realize that a stat buff may change that though. Still, the most common, Killing Edge on a Heartseeker, leaves it vulnerable. Make sure to run Ephemeral Shrouds/Lightbenders/EMPs and watch your positioning and you should be okay.

But in Gauntlet, ranged units can be tough to deal with.

That’s up to you. The idea of ranged units being broken in gauntlet is universal, everyone knows that.

Holy shit thats savage. I mean, there are more soft ways to said it.

Ranged units are expensive and whit low presence, so theyre only used as removal bait or finishers.

Considering first post, not enough or not from long enough

That’s raqyee what do you expect? Pretty much all his posts looked like that.

There is a reason that I see almost no other ranged unit than Ki Beholder and Reva’s BBS on ladder. The loss on board positioning is often too high especially with the high amount of removal in the game.

Ranged units suck. Nobody uses them competetively. Period.

Trust me, I’m Doctor.
