Ragnora: Whoshim's Way

So, with the expansion coming, I might as well share where I am with Ragnora currently. First, a brief introduction (since I post so rarely).

I have been playing since Alpha. I have made S every season I have tried (somewhere in the teens, but I can’t double check right now). I was part of the first Team Wars Champion team (before they gave out tournament ribbons :disappointed_relieved: ).

I didn’t play much the last two months, so I started at Rank 19 this month. I am currently 21 wins from S, and I made it this far in a little less than 50 wins. I went 9-1 with Ragnora yesterday, and have used him for most of my climb.

Here is my list:

How to play the list:

General Concepts:

Greater Fortitude is the star of the deck. It should (basically) never be replaced. It is so good that I am running 3 extra copies at 3 mana (Primordial Gazer).

The main idea is to burst the opponent down. The important numbers to know are 15 and 20.

15 damage is doable at 7 mana with Morin Kur and Greater Fortitude + BBS.
20 damage is the 3/1 with Greater Fortitude and Thumping Wave.

If you get GF and Thumping Wave in your hand, try to position so that your egg can hatch and attack the enemy general when you hit 5 mana.

In some matchups, BBS + Gazer on the egg can be the correct play, to make it harder for the opponent to ping.

Matchups:
Cass: Terrible. You have to play for the Morin Kur + GF combo because it is too easy for her to remove your eggs.

Abyssian: Swarm can get out of hand, and with no plasma, this means that you have to keep the wraithling numbers down as much as possible and win fast.

Songhai: It varies a lot based on how many spells they are running. If they are more minion-heavy, you should be okay, but if they run a lot of spells, they can ping your eggs a lot.

Lyonar: Because of provoke, Diretide Frenzy is a good card in this matchup.

Vetruvian: This matchup is generally relatively easy, though be careful they don’t copy your Makantor Warbeasts. You just need to be very careful about positioning because of Obelysk spawns.

Magmar: This is a good matchup unless it is a mirror and they are player 2. They will hit the important mana numbers first, so it will be hard to win.

Vanar: Because of the amount of Frenzy in the deck, you have a good chance of removing walls before they do damage. You are also generally faster than Ghost Seraphim, so it is not a bad matchup.

NOTE: Sojourner probably should be replaced by Spelljammer, but putting Frenzy on Sojourner is fun. Also, I find that I really want solid 3 mana plays in this deck more than I want 4 mana plays, so that is another point in favor of Sojourner.

You can friend me on Duelyst (I won’t be able to login for about 8 hours or so though) if you want to watch replays. Questions are welcome.
