Quillrage pauper - T2 Kill

I’ve been doing pretty well due to this broken combo, and I don’t even have all the good legendaries that would make it more consistent.

This started off as a best-effort clone of The Return of Quillrage - S Rank 12, and then I tweaked replacements for cards I was missing over the course of several matches.

:flushed:

This one’s a close loss to a Shidai deck that consists mostly of epics and legendaries:

wait, thats not pauper

wait, that’s not pauper

shrug

I dunno what these forums consider to be “pauper”, but everything above rare is decorative here.

Compared to the other Diamond/S-Rank decks that are loaded with epics / legendaries, the core of quillrage is extremely accessible.

A deck doesn’t have to be “loaded with epics / legendaries” to be good. Spirit costs of 5600 is not budget and not pauper at all.

Pauper is something like commons only. Hsuku did that for his FZTH series.

I’m glad to see ornery layers trying out my favorite deck archetypes . How has Rage reactor and the Progenitor been working or for you?

In regards to this not being pauper, it is pretty close. It contains 2 legendaries, neither of which are critical to the gameplan. It contains 6 epics that are staples of Magmar. If a new player wants to play Magmar, they craft those 6 first.

After that, it contains 11 rares, 8 of which are pretty common in most Magmar builds, and Rage Reactor may become more common as people play with it more.

So yeah, a new player cannot just take their basics and a couple of cards and make this deck. It is not a budget deck. However, if a player is interested in playing Magmar, they should be able to put this together without much trouble.

preserving the original posted decklist + card commentary here:

Honestly, Morin-Khur is only in there so I can give it a try, but it’s been underwhelming. I’ll probably swap it out for a third lava lance. [edit: I’ve swapped out MK and I don’t miss it]

Wild Inceptor and Thumping Wave have also rarely been useful, so I’m considering trying out:

  • Embryotic Insight, to extend the mid-game
  • cheap buffs like Razor Skin and Diretide Frenzy
  • Elucidator, as a mid-game closer

[edit: Elucidator is great, and synergizes with Blood Rage! I don’t miss Wild Inceptor.]

I’ve now switched to this build:

Of note, Bloodtear Alchemist is there almost exclusively to help remove equipment, since there are several S-Rank control builds with annoying armor.

The Golem Metallurgist > Ragebinder > Lavaslasher progression is solid, but doesn’t lead to the quick win. I might tweak that next, adding counters to the more difficult S-Rank decks.

Another T2 win, vs Sajj - https://play.duelyst.com/replay?replayId=-L-0XqBEF3n0I7cKbrZ-

For my understanding there are budget decks which should be around 1500 spirit.

Pauper decks are way less than that.

A deck for 4-6k spirit is neither budget nor pauper nor close to either.

I find it interesting that you remove more and more of the egg synergies for Blood Rage synergies  I like Blood Rage a lot!
