  1. My profile says 12 months but I took the summer off so closer to eight-ish.

  2. Yep. I played Warlord CCG from roughly 2005-2011, I played L5R from 2007-2014 and did tournament play from '09-'13, I played Magic from 2013-2014, and Hearthstone from early beta to roughly the first week of it’s official release.

  3. Highest was rank 1.

  4. I reached rank 1 in my second season of playing.

  5. I think I’ve thrown roughly $150 at Duelyst for packs and the Kaleos skin.

  6. I play everything but Lyonar.

  7. I don’t DE anything but extras and the occasional prismatic if I already have three of it.

  8. I would only DE prismatics if you already have a play set of that card or if you see yourself never playing it.

  9. My favorite faction is Songhai but I’ve really been feeling janky midrange Vaath recently.

  10. Lyonar without a doubt, I’ve tried to play it but I find it boring as all hell. Same reason I couldn’t play non-tainted Lion in L5R or Free Kingdoms in Warlord.

  11. My favorite card is probably Purgatos because it was the first epic I got and the art is just great.

  12. I personally despise Concealing Shroud because it’s the ultimate “delay the game a turn” card.

  13. Green.

  14. Lyvern, just because I got crushed by his twin fangs deck in March and that made me play Magmar.

1- about a year
2- who hasnt played card games before this? havnt really been super involved in CCG’s for a while, but i used to play yugioh way back when the original anime was out.

4- not gonna look at my profile, but i think it was like 8 months or so
5- i am 100% free to play, but i have spent a large amount of time on this game
6- i play with all factions except songhai, but i main abyssian
7- I only DE when i need to craft something, first the prismatics, then songhai, then come the hard decisions
8- only DE when you need spirit and you know what you want to craft. also, only DE prismatics when you have the base card. i got 2 primatic lux ingnis and a prismatic ancient grove before i got a single normal one of either.
9- ABYSS 4 LYFE (if you couldnt tell by every single profile pic ive ever had on forums and in game)
10- songhai, obviously. cant stand those sneaky ninja wizards.
11- hard decision… klaxon for the fanart, variax for the effect, and deathfire crescendo for the epic name
12- least fun card is bloodrage mask. part of the reason i dont play songhai (absolutely despised it in the hey-day of spellhai)
13- orange
14- i really like this community and it would be a disservice to single out 1 person as the best. the ones that i remember the best are @raqyee (rip) @phayze @thefirstgokun @maelrawn @excogitator and @dewize

  1. Around a year and a half, but I dropped it a month or two after starting, and only really picked it up after steam release

  2. I have some casual experience in other physical ccg’s, namely Yu-Gi-Oh and MTG, and I played quite a bit of Hearthstone previously.

  10. To play against, definitely Magmar.

  11. Probably Iridium Scale. Iridium Scale because it’s quite fun to use the sunglasses emote then proceed to BBS and wreck 3 2-drops which your opponent foolishly placed around you in a desperate plea to contain you.

  12. Aymara Healer. Always ends up being a ‘Do you have a dispel’ check to win/lose the game (I realize it isn’t as strong as I’m implying here, but it’s still zero fun to play against).

  5. One of the rank packs, DoS Preorder, A couple of crates and the 10 orb one time deal. I think that’s around 90$?

  6. 3, Vetruvian (My beloved main), Songhai and Lyonar. I can and have played every single Vet archetype (yes, even the 13 Legendary Control Sajj that was running rampant in the Era of Kron right after DoS). Have played most Songhai archetypes (from Arcanyst to Spell to Backstab to Aggro to Cranky (my personal favourite)). As for Lyonar, it’s strictly Zir’an and therefore all variants of Healyonar decks. (Argeon can go burn in hell with Magmar).

  7. I DE everything that is Abyssian, Magmar or Vanar as I have no interest in ever playing those factions in constructed.

  8. Tbh, your choice. If you never intend to try the faction or desperately need spirit, I’d DE. Otherwise, you never know. (My Example being a prismatic Arclyte Regalia, not really run in Zir’an lists anymore but someday I may try it out again or make some weird one-woman artifact healyonar deck.)

  2. I played Scrolls and used to collect Pokemon cards. Not play, just collect, since no one really knew how to play.

  1. All of them! Recently, I have been playing more Vetruvian, Vanar, and Lyonar.

  2. I only DE when an expansion has just been released and I want to play with new cards. I usually keep all my cards, even multiples.

  3. I would keep them, but if doing so will give you enough spirit to get a deck that you like fast, then it is a good idea to go ahead and disenchant them.

  4. This is a tough one. Probably Vetruvian due to the time manipulation theme and general aestetic design.

  5. Lyonar, though not by much. This faction has always seems too “fair” for me. It doesn’t have enough interesting effects for my tastes, but I do enjoy healing by a bunch.

  6. My favourite current card is Grandmaster Zendo. It’s just the perfect blend of memetic and playable. If past cards were included, I would choose time maelstrom because… [ZA WARUDO]

  7. Windblade Adept. I really dislike overpowered early drops and this one commits an additional sin by also being a statstick. Really, any of the aggressively stated one or two drops can fit on this list.

Diamond one chevron away from S rank haha so close.

How long did it take you to get their?
Not sure I was having a really lucky season with vanar

At first it was nothing but I liked he game more an more so maybe 100

How many factions do you play?
I play all because with different generals the play styles change.

Excluding extras, do you DE at all? (If so, what? Do you DE cards outside of the factions you generally play? Do you keep them just in case?)

If you aren’t going to play them then its worth deing. I myself don’t like them

  2. played some yu gi oh on gameboy, singleplayer only when i was in school. Tryed hearthstone when it was on beta, didn’t like it at all and stopped playing after a week, bever regreted that decision.

  5. ~140$ bought expensions, most of it went into my vetruvians deck, before they got nerfed. RIP vetruvians :cry:
    Still keep the cards in case vetruvians become viable again sometime in the future.
  6. at some point i played all 6. Now i mainly play songhai, lyonar, magmar and vanar
  7. i disenchant all prismatics unless i use them in my deck as a placeholder for a card. Other than that mostly legendaries only, the worst ones atleast, many of them are plain useless. Epics or below i find impractical to disenchant, the spirit they give isn’t game changing (if you have a viable deck or 2) and if you ever want to play them you will have to pay triple price.
    I have reasonable decks for 4-5 factions so i mostly just wait for extras to pile up before crafting something and just play a different faction meanwhile.
  8. if you don’t desparetly need to craft something now, or think of playing abyssians sometime soon just keep them, otherwise might as well disenchant. You need a play set anyway and abyssians need probably 10k + spirit for a good deck anyway. 2 cards aren’t going to make a viable deck there.
    Vetruvians are the same but even 15k+ spirit deck might not be viable, so might disenchant it unless you main vetruvian and need the card.
  9. favored faction would be songhai, very fun to play and often you need to solve a daily puzzle level field state, it makes every game more challenging and unique compared to other factions.
  10. hands down abyssians, just hate everything about them, their cards seem mostly op and extremely easy to play. Extemely toxic with their 1 card 20 hp lethals on like 5-6 mana or ‘skill’ revenant spam.
  11. not sure, don’t think i have one. Maybe repulsor beast.

  1. Since last summer. as I understand it i just missed the 2-card-draw era?
  2. I played IRL card games, but not online stuff like Hearthstone. Pokemon, Yugioh, and the Neopets and Kingdom Hearts TCGs (neopets especially was a good time), as well as the one with the pirate ships where you pop them out of the cards and put them together.
  3. I’ve hit S-rank I think 3 times now?
  4. I squeaked into S-rank for the first time with facemonkey Vet towards the end of the month. idr which month that was exactly, but facemonkey was an era unto itself.
  5. I’ve probably put about $100 into duelyst by now, and probably nearly a third of that has been on pure cosmetics. If you mean time, you’re looking at hundreds of hours. Which is why I’m ok with the $100 lmao
  6. I play all the factions.
  7. I disenchant extra cards immediately and prismatics when I need the spirit. I should probably save the 4th-plus copies of things but I hate seeing that “you have extras!!” bubble in the collection screen.
  8. If you really don’t want to play whatever faction, DE away. However I put a lot of emphasis on building my collection, and if I don’t have 3x of a staple card I would not dust a prismatic version.
  9. Vetruvian is my fave. I like obelysk decks and I LOVE their aesthetic. Tough it out bby, you treated me right in the past and I know you’ll be top of the heap again.
  10. Songhai might be my least favorite. Partially aesthetic reasons, partially because the spell-heavy playstyle never resonated with me. Game has a board, fam. Let’s use it.
  11. Favorite card is a toughie. I like Pax, Lux Ignis, Sunset Paragon, and high-cost minions that will never see the light of the meta.
  12. I don’t have a Hated Card as much as I just get tired of seeing super-dominate decks doing the thing they were designed to do. Variax and Decimus into drawspam will frequently make me “ZZZ” emote you.
  13. I have become enlightened. I no longer have a favorite color and regard all colors equally. But blue is good.
  14. I like people who post the good content and the dank memes.

I started playing very casually in May 2016, but I started being really interested only in August 2016.

Did you play card games before this? If so, what and how long have you been involved with CCG’s?
Played Hearthstone for almost one year, but I also played Mutant Chronicles for a while when I was a kid :slight_smile:

I first hit Diamond in November 2016

Did you (or how much) have put into Duelyst?
I’ve spent around 70 euros so far (Shimzar preorder + RotB)

How many factions do you play?
I play all of them, but Vetruvian and Lyonar are underused.

I mostly disenchant extras, but a few meme legendaries like Paddo have been killed for the spirit :slight_smile:

  1. Since the 7 Sister patch, began playing even though I was dubious about the kickstarter and gameplay I saw. By the time I started playing, the Bloodborn patch, retail launch, and 1 card draw were all done- and so I was less hesitant to give the game a whirl.

  2. I played Pokemon and YGO in middle school, picked up MtG in my first year of college (2010), and started grinding FNMs. Eventually started participating in larger Magic tournaments as a passtime. Picked up Scrolls when the public Beta became available- but the development cycle was… rough. So I chronically put Scrolls down to go play in Magic tournaments.

  3. Gold 8, I’m super lazy on the ladder. Should probably push myself to S just to see if I can, but I usually get burnt out during the work week- and only log in to be quest ninja.

  4. I usually just experiment on the ladder and watch other people play tournaments.

  5. Couldn’t give you an honest answer. There was a time when I put like $20 a week into it as a passtime, because I haven’t gone to FNM since last year- and I got burnt out on Hearthstone

  6. Everything except for Magmar. Made a f2p account to try grinding out Magmar- but the games were far too swingy to enjoy

  7. I used to DE all of my Magmar cards and (most) battle pets. Sortof stopped doing that since I completed my Vetruvian, Lyonar and Abyssian playsets

  8. Prismatics are the best DE choices if you don’t have cards you need to build decks that you want to play.

  12. Flash Reincarnation/ Darkfire Sacrifice. Most cards in the game are able to be fixed through changing numbers- moxen speed mana manipulation keepers rearing it’s ugly head as the cardpool expands. Honorable mentions: Saberspine Tiger, Chrysalis Burst, Reaper of the Nine Moons, Mind Steal, Metamorphosis and Enfeeble.

  13. Stark white (if you’re edgy enough you could argue that this means every color is my favorite.) Also a fan of muted oranges, greens and blues (I find over-saturated colors are best used sparingly)

  1. Yes, but only 2/3 Fermat numbers I actively recall. A quick google search just made me realize that 3, 5, and 17 aren’t the only Fermat numbers Can’t say that I honestly have many prime numbers memorized, or outside of probability/combinatory/permutative figures, I’ve thought much about factorial calculation.

Fun fact: People who misuse the word “permutation”, when they mean “combination” irritate me to no end. It might sound like a dumb thing to get pedantic about, but I’ve had to outright close tabs on some of Scarzig’s videos because the difference between a combination and permutation is lost on him.
