Preliminary nerf thread

This expansion has introduced many interesting, strong cards. Though it’s too early to say for sure, based on some initial reactions of revield cards, it’s possible that few of them will turn out to be too strong. Which card do you think will be the most complained about in the upcoming expansion and why?

Veturvian is a faction that can take great advantage of their board and tempo advantage because of their buffs and Obelysks. This is a card that grants immense tempo yet costs no value while aiding the boardflooding gameplan while giving an recovery insurance against board clears.

Just imagine as player1 turn2 you ramp into a 4 drop then the p2t2 ramp into this to bounce your 4 drop. Not only have you instantly lost your tempo advantage form being the P1, you now also have this value hole you need to deal with for the rest of the game while being behind on board.

Vetruvian would happily play Hailstone Prison. Hailstone Prison costs 2 mana. 3/4 is the body of a 3 mana minion. Exhuming Sand gives you a free BBS (1 mana) each turn you play any minion. So not only is this card undercosted already in that sense, it also gives you 3 cards of effects in one which should make the card cost extra! But not this card, apparently.

From what I’ve seen so far there aren’t any cards that look broken to me. Most of them are more on the too weak side.

My :moneybag: is on Trygon Obelysk so far for its AoD nature on T2 and synergy with the aforementioned Reader.

So far it seems we will be complaining about Vetruvian.

I could see komodo hunter and wild tahr being possible nerf targets. They look very strong for 3-drops. And maybe thunderhorn, too.

Thunderhorn
Its already the best 4 drop in the game imho, 4/5 with That ability is insane

I’ve got to take that back, the new Vanar Sentinels are totally busted. Honestly what’s going on between Vanar and CPG? They already have the best spot removal, then they got excellent mass removal, then they got amazing card draw engines and now they get a playset of completely overpowered 3 drop minions. The only thing missing is a spell 1 mana “heal anything for 8” then they are the top dog in literally every aspect of the game.

Couldnt agree more. Vanar and Magmar always take the busted cards

Would like to counter, Vanar’s Sentinels are only strong if they get triggered in a safe place. With careful planning you can outplay them: for example, 2/3 of the Vanar Sentinels die to Dancing Blades and Saberspine Tiger. Also, any damaging Artifact on your General will kill 3/3 of them in one hit. Sentinels have a lot of outplay potential because they give you a turn to react to them appropriately, and they’re just 3/3s for 3 if you don’t trigger them.

And not triggering them means doing nothing, great counterplay. No serious opponent will play them within attack range. If one of them was bad you might still have options but all 3 of them are bonkers. Want a good vanar deck? Pick those 3 plus your generic removal package and sail to s rank without having to think at all.
