Poll: Who wants Unranked back, AKA a way to play casually?

Read it again.
(seriously, read it, again, please)

I care about having fun.
Playing in Unranked (and Unranked ONLY) from the day it was pushed till its removal, was a lot of fun, every day.
Playing in forced Ranked since last patch was boring as shit, every day.

I don’t know how to put it in a more understandable way, sorry.

Why? Whats the difference between playing unranked and playing in silver with no ranked ambition in terms of fun?

Mindset, decks, people, expectations, chat requests and discussions, mood, these are the differences.

Sorry but I’m gonna stop here, I sound like a broken record, repeating same stuff for 3 days now, trying to get understood and honestly, no matter how long/deep we debate here, it’s not gonna change anything. CPG decides, and they made their call.

Somebody in some previous post has brought up a similar argument, which I don’t understand.
You and those with this same idea seem not to understand that one could want to play competitively sometimes AND not competitively some other times. When Unranked was on, we had the FREEDOM to choose if playing meme/test/past time-whatever, or try to climb the ladder in Ranked. The sustainability of the queue it’s probably at the bottom of the problem as to me didn’t bother to wait a bit longer, and I would trade it gladly for having Unranked back, but this very bit might be not popular not shared by the most.

And I agree with @nwardezir, I also feel like just repeating myself since the conversation has been developed and I explained already my point pretty well. Anyway thank you and thanks to all the others for taking part in this conversation, and if you haven’t voted in the poll, do it please, thank you  .

Kinda goes to show how insignificant this whole thing is in the first place regardless of whoever gets whatever.

Also, not trying to invalidate anyone when I say this, its just, you have MTG with upwards of 100’s of thousands of players (maybe subtract a 0) and then Duelyst which barely even hits 100 people. How badly does it hurt for CPG to take it away if they are already writhing on the ground screaming in pain anyways.

whyyy :frowning:

@nwardezir this is a different take on CCG, i would like to see it work. Duelyst has done different things and it turns out to be amazing. like replace mechanic, the board itself.
if no rotation can be made working, we will be able to play thousands of different combo not limited.

and the problem of powercreep can be solved by aggressive balancing of cards for example lavaslasher and brightmoss debaucle.

Keep in mind, the digital formats keep going under. M:TG Tactics got canned around the 2 year mark and AFAIK the Duel of the Planeswalker release that was supposed to be perpetual is no longer supported. I think regular M:TG online is still running but last time I logged in it was a desolate wasteland.

Ok thats just because wizards are trash with making online ports.

Kinda hard with stuff like instants, but there has been multiple ways to fix that.
Wizards just have never been good at making digital ports for a variety of reasons

Oh, I see, you’re that type of people.
*sigh*

Since this discussion is going on for a while, I might as well toss my 2 cents in:

I do not really miss unranked at all in Duelyst since I didn’t play unranked at all in comparison to ranked mode. Therefore, I did almost all of my meme-decking and deck-testing in ranked mode, just like how I was doing to ever since the very beginning of my Duelyst career. If I had more free time in real life, I can really push myself beyond silver and enter gold and beyond.

More to the point, I don’t think Duelyst really need to have an unranked mode as badly as the competition like Shadowverse for example. I think this is due to a single difference between them, which is the way to gain the in-game currency to get more card packs. In Duelyst, you always gain points towards completing those daily quests, regardless if you are winning or losing. As a result, I was able to gain new card packs on a regular basis. Those boss battle rewards help out as well with my collection.

Contrast this with Shadowverse. You only gain points towards almost all of the daily quests if you actually win the matches. Sounds nice, but I have reached the point where even my peers run very expensive and powerful meta decks in unranked mode in an effort to complete those daily quests. And this goes on even in the middling ranks of the game. As a result of these powerful meta decks, my win rate dropped like a rock and my progression rate and motivation goes down along with it. Nowadays, I just log into Shadowverse to claim the daily freebies and the free packs they hand out time to time.

From a fun, meme-ly perspective, I understand the appeal of goofing off without consequence in Unranked. However, from a business perceptive, my observations, and from the reasons CPG stated, I do understand why the mode got the axe like it did.

i’m sorry that i’m just that kind of idiot, oh genius of the universe.

edit: the Wisest of the universe might be more appropriate.

Than you learn that rank is more a representation of time spent or deck used than it is of skill…therefore combined with the terrible reward jump from dia-S its not worth at all to grind through dia

Err … never called you an idiot.

Just said you’re that type of people that think player were massively in Unranked because all cards were available (as summarized in the quote).

I’m the other type of people, that think the players were massively in Unranked because it was relaxed and meta-free.

We just disagree on that. Nobody is idiot or genius.

But I know I may be influenced on my perception of Unranked because I played it hours every day when it was available.

i know you as a very smart guy in this forum, loved most of your reply.

but you purposefully make that reply to me sound condescending.

do you think people will able to derive from those words that you meant this?

i don’t think so.

Edit: i forgot to mention
this

i never even think of this. i don’t care why people play unranked, i don’t care how many percentage of people play what. didn’t even consider it. i presented what i think and i answered the poll the way i think.

Honestly, I thought it was pretty obvious from the quote I made on purpose where you clearly stated you don’t want Unranked back then made it related to rotation.

This one exactly

Anyway …

… I still don’t understand why you don’t want Unranked back.

That’s a recurring problem, people that didn’t played or liked it … don’t want it back and can’t clearly explain why.

And on the opposite, there are those that enjoyed it, and clearly explained why, and are disapointed of his removal (and also, even if it may sound pedantic, knows better what type of players were in Unranked because … you know … they were there too, every day).

But nevermind, as said before, it’s not these debates in forums that will bring it back.

i hate it when you do this, every single time in an argument.

continues your own point but act as if you don’t want to argue.
so you close with your argument.

this is your default debate set up.

Hey, make a simple sentence like :
“I don’t want Unranked back because …” (fill the missing part)
… and there is no “debate”.

please go ahead and add unranked.

“i don’t want Rotation back because, it would be more fun to have access to all the cards in the game, because it is not a system that is necessary, because this is a different take and direction compared to other CCG and nobody given it time to work out before bashing it”

now will you shut up? or do you want to end the discussion in your argument and say “but this isn’t the place to debate” like you usually do?

if bringing back unranked does not come in package with rotation i could care less.

Ok, it’s only about rotation actually.

Thanks for the clear answer.
