Out of the loop:battlefy and duelyst's new partnership

Hey guys what’s this about?
https://duelyst.com/news/duelyst-and-battlefy

i don’t really get how the tourneys work and everything. It’d be really cool to know how this will benefit the community.

@ThanatosNoa, when will you be giving us news updates again on the forums? I know you are really busy with the team trying to figure out the problems occurring in game right now, but it would be nice to see you once in a while .

Think it means that soon, anyone will be able to setup a Duelyst tournament on Battlefy. Which may lead to more tournaments happening and hopefully more real money prize pools to get the scene back on its feet. Although I don’t know how the current tournaments are setup, in terms of how prizes are done with the orbs etc.

yeah same. I always thought most of the non-brawl tourneys were organized by the community and one guy shelling out his money to buy orbs.

I don’t even know what this means :frowning:
This is the softlaunch to the tournament scene, not much news because it’s not the official big launch.

CPG already offered orbs and keys for tournaments. Now there is more stuff and it happens that Battlefy is doing that.

This is meant as incentive for more tournaments and more people playing in tournaments. But it needs a big push because 32 players participating in a tournament…has been a long time that I saw that happen (my first tournament back then in November 2016 where everybody who only joined the DWC qualifier got free orbs).

But if we get that going, who knows what else Namco will do for us and the tournament scene?

What big launch are we talking about?

Side note:Maybe the announcement is just kinda lost on someone like me who doesnt know much about battlefy or how tournaments are organized, so maybe i should look those details up first lol

The big launch about the tournament scene which I can’t tell you because that defeats the purpose of the big launch about the tournament scene :upside_down_face:

… which is why this is a soft launch about our new partners Battlefy.

Ooooh now that sounds interesting

I’m pretty certain that has been tournaments that have been filled up to (or beyond since some tournaments have had 40 players as a max limit) the 32 player mark in 2017. Although from the small amount of tournaments I’ve been in or looked at, haven’t hit that 32 player mark in a while.

the most recent tournament that hit 32 participants was the monolith climb which happened on the 31st of last month, so there is definatley enough people around to play.

Great to hear! I hope we will see more of that in the future!

I remember seeing on the forums that it was the first tournament in a while to have a prize pool with money in. But didn’t follow it because I was away that weekend so didn’t get to see if it was filled or not.

Team Wars has money in it too  But it feels good that now the money is coming from official sources and not private persons.

First rule of Big Announcements: don’t talk about Big Announcements…

Oh, my post wasn’t really connected to cloudfrog’s regarding contemt about tournament, I meant announcements in general such as the weekly boss battles. It’s okay if you don’t want to talk about it, I just didn’t think this topic required an entire thread so I posted here.

dwc2 hype intensifies :eyes:

Hey, I have always wondered if there was any Swiss style Duelyst tourneys planned?

I wouldn’t want to host it if it was possible (As far is taking up a lot of time (The next one is happening soon!)) and if I was it would be over the summer.

Sadly battlefy doesn’t support it iirc.

battlefy definately supports swiss style, and I know that the trial of the seventh sanctum will have that format. I think SirOmega’s meta retreat also has a swiss format, but I don’t know when the next one of those is going to be.

Wasn’t part of the DWC open qualifiers in a swiss format as well?
