[Official Poll] Vex Card Design Contest Voting [psych I closed it a day early]

First, I will review every card. Then you can vote between my three favorites to determine which Vex will get in the game!

Good for Battle Pet synergy, but kind of plain. Also, it’s not vexing for your opponent at all, because in order for this card to be good, your deck has to be bad (mostly Battle Pets).

Another 1/4 for 2? This one also requires Battle Pet synergy, but only one other Battle Pet, and it has a very powerful (and vexing) effect. I like it.
:trophy:1

Nice design, but it might be too good on T1.

These 2 mana 1/4s are starting to make me suspicious. This is an unique design, but a cheap minion that requires a board probably wouldn’t be viable. And it could even help your opponent (positioning-wise).

3 mana 1/3 Celerity Battle Pet is awful. The ability doesn’t help because it just turns the target into Vex twice, basically just healing it 1 health the second time. Also, it can transform Generals… :scream:

For 3 mana and being a Battle Pet, this is awful. You can get a 2 mana 3/3 Battle Pet and even that is bad…

5 mana: destroy all strategy in Duelyst.
And then replace it with a New World Order of Predictive Strategy.
I don’t care how good it is; I need this card!
:trophy:2

A very vexing idea, but it basically just makes Battle Pets have Deathtouch and “Can’t be attacked.” Therefore, if you don’t have a spell, this thing (and all your other Battle Pets) is invincible. Too good.

So basically, Abyssian scum snipes this out of the meta forever. :frowning:
If it weren’t so easy to get rid of, I do like the idea of “avoid, don’t attack,” though.

This would be a cool idea for any other tribe, but for Battle Pets it is nearly useless. That is because Battle Pets attack at the beginning of your turn, in (I think) a random order. So if this doesn’t attack first, your other Battle Pets don’t get a meaningful buff. Maybe if it gave +1 attack permanently it would be viable (in a terrible Battle Pet deck).

You lose just because this is a 2 mana 1/4.
And the design is too similar to @alexx55’s.

This is amazing. But it would also kill Duelyst.

This is… um… nope.

Fair design, but kind of plain.

DOOM with a 1/1 body that wins the next turn unless dispelled? I think not!

This is a super original idea. It also could even vex you, depending on the circumstance.
:trophy:3

I’m sorry. This card has amazing design, but:

  1. It is Abyssian, not Neutral
  2. Desolator
  3. Another Desolator
  4. Corporeal Cadence 6 mana OTK

Nice try making Eternal Heart viable, but you went too far when you revised this card. +5 attack permanently is disgusting (just the first ability would have been enough).

Now, let the voting begin! Vote on your own design if you think you’re that good, why should I care?
(Unforunately I realized too late that you can’t see who wrote each quote by name, but these go in order with the :trophy: symbols in the above review.)

Needless to say, also tell me how terrible I am at reviewing designs in the comments.

Vex
Abyssian.

1 mana battlepet.
66/66

Opening gambit: Your general health is reduced to 1. Put 2 Desolators in your action bar.

You are doing it wrong. Sol 3 mana OTK.

Should’ve been a 66/6 too…
Actually, maybe a 6/66 would’ve been fair.

Fair enough but humour is at a loss.

Well my thought behind it is that you play it to Deny your opponent a mana tile if they dont want Vex. Note that my idea replicates only after Vex attacking, not taking dmg, so with good positioning you counter the Vex. Also, THorn still kills both incase its attacked, because Vex effect triggers first, then Thorn revenge

I don’t understand how @owlbeastmd hasn’t instantly won the contest. :man_shrugging:

I’m pretty sure they act in deploy order, which means you should play Vex first to get a buff, and your opponent must position so that his attack would be last.
But I actually wanted to change card a bit, because in current form it’s too weak, and forgot about that. So that’s my fault.

Also it’s hard to read comments because quotes don’t show nicks.

He did, but then he instantly lost.
You know you can vote for yourself, right?

What do you mean, nicks?

Yes, I think it does have really good positioning potential. I just had to judge all the cards really harshly in order to narrow it down to three. :frowning:

Apparently British humour is different from American humor.
