Yes, as long as the cards are common and rare. No epics and legendaries are allowed.
Please suggest a term for players who are Bronze, Silver and Gold, and have not hit diamond or Srank in any past season.

Casual players may be more appropriate

DyingDay and Diesux, etc. are casual players. They don’t participate in tournaments, but they are Srank players. You can be a casual player and be in Srank. Definition of casual being for leisure as opposed to professional - to play for sanctioned tournaments.

Hmm, I guess newbie would be a good term then

I would like to play, but would be unable to do it on the scheduled day of the 13th. Is it possible for the game to played before or after, as long as it is pre-agreed with the opposing player?

As online games do not require all to gather at one location, I do not see it as necessary that a tournament only be played within a specific time.

I feel this is anything like the usual melee, the entire bracket (or just up to the finals) is played at once. So you play one opponent, and if you beat them you move up to play the next opponent immediately after. It’s not just one game that would be rescheduled, it would be the entire tournament.

Timing like this requires you to be playing on the same day and at the same time as everyone else (plus allows the tournament creators to oversee checkins or spectate the matches).

Besides, that would force you to have an opponent available another time.

I think it’s tough to find a good fit. Casual certainly isn’t the word for obvious reasons, but newbie also implies that the players are new to the game, which also might not be true.

But at the same time it could be rude to call it ‘B-League Melee’ or inaccurate to call it ‘Gold Melee’ since it’s open to players in lower divisions (and gold players can participate in the normal melee as well).

Not a naming decision I’m jealous of making.

I haven’t done any tournament, so I don’t know much on it. If I’m unable to lay and changes can’t be made, then that’s how it goes. I’d prefer the chance to join in the tournament, but I work on the 13th.

Separate, but related to my question, is why an online tournament needs to adhere to such a strict and specific time? If all players in a tournament are able to play each other at some point, why does it matter if the tournament is done over the course of 1 hour or 1 week? The stricter the allotted time schedule, the less opportunity there is for others to participate.

I’m not seeking a rant, just a notion that I struggle to see the logic in. Online play (and thereby tournaments) is naturally more flexible to availability than local play (such as board games).

Why take a week to do what can be done in a matter of hours? It also becomes more complicated with there being a specific set time that each person agrees with. And what about getting into contact with your new opponents? Must phone numbers be exchanged? Emails? How effective is that, what happens if it takes several days for two players to finish their set? Everyone else just waits on them to finish for the tourney to continue? What about time zones and miscommunications?

Etcetera etcetera.

TL;DR that would be extremely inefficient and introduces far more complications. If you can’t make the set time and date, I don’t think there’s any way you can participate.

It sucks (I missed the last DPL- rip my chances of dogehai skin :frowning: ) but perhaps there will be another one in the future

The format of a group stage where the player is given a list of pre-assigned opponents will work by playing over the course of a week. But I’m sorry, this tournament’s format is a single elimination bracket. As what Whybot said, the tournament would be delayed for everyone still participating, if a player does not play the match - this would be resolved by a forfeit from the player who doesn’t play the match. Future Newbie Melees are planned for future Saturdays, if you so happen to be free then, you are most welcome to join the tournament.

To respond to both at the same time:

This would be dependent on the size of the tournament (which would be dependent on the amount of people who could be available to participate, which displays a circular cause-and-effect).

Just adding on friends list. Everything can be accomplished via forums/reddit and in-game. Everything could be done in game if messages were able to be left.

These are things that can still happen naturally and would be left to the players’ responsibility.

I agree that I don’t think there is any way I would be capable of participating in this tournament. Bummed, but that’s just how things go. No hard feelings. Thank you for the responses.

It would be interesting to see correspondence Duelyst similar to correspondence chess. (Where games are played over week(s) with the move time limit about 1-3 days. Not proposing, but it’s a fun random thought.

Are bloodrise and ancient bonds cards allowed?(rarity doesnt matter for them because they cant be crafted)

Im just curious

I already asked about that,

only if they are commons or rares, so no meltdown :frowning: but you can use joseki :faiekiss:
