Hello everyone! After the recent release of the new Generals, I’ve been thinking a bit about different possibilities for BBS effects. Even though CPG probably won’t create any more Generals (at least not anytime soon), I still think it could be interesting to come up with our own ideas for new Generals. We could even make a competition out of it if anyone is interested.
Anyway, here are 6 of my ideas for new Generals, feel free to criticize them and suggest improvements.
ABYSSIAN - Anaris Shadowcoven
BBS (Shadow Rite): Summon a 0/2 Cultist nearby. If you control at least 3 Cultists, destroy them all to summon a 6/6 Horror nearby your General
Explanation
This one by far my favorite in terms of flavor. By casting your BBS, you slowly recruit a Coven of seemingly harmless, 0-Attack minions. However, once you collect a full coven of 3, they perform a dark rite, summoning a 6/6 Horror and destroying themselves in the process.
This isn’t the only threat they pose though, Abyssian decks can also make further use of these 0-Attack minions through cards like Soulshatter Pact, Shadow Reflections, and Horror Burster to name a few.
Awesome BBS (From Variax)
Summon a 6/6 Horror nearby. If you control less than 3 Horrors, cast this again.
MAGMAR - Durik Scalemane
BBS (Scale Shield): The next time your General takes damage this turn, prevent 4 of it.
Explanation
I’ve always liked the idea of control/artifact Magmar, but neither of those decks are close to being playable in the current meta. This BBS is designed to push that archetype into viability by allowing Magmar players to get more value from their Artifacts while reducing face damage.
LYONAR - Eoth Skyfall
BBS (Shatter): Deal 2 damage to an enemy AND your General.
Explanation
If any faction can deal with face damage, its Lyonar. Trinity Oath and Scintilla alone are enough to make this miniature version of Draining Wave more than worth while. I’m honestly not much of a Lyonar player, so this one was the hardest to come up with.
VANAR - Vakron the Betrayer
BBS (Blood And Ice): Summon a 0/3 Blood Partition. Take 2 damage.
Blood Partition
1-Mana, Wall
0/3
Whenever your General takes damage, gain +1 Attack.
Explanation
This is another one I enjoy the flavor of.
Vakron creates barriers of blood that grow stronger as your General sheds blood in battle, bringing a new and slightly twisted flavor to the traditional Wall Vanar decks. Its important to note that this also adds a new Wall to Myriad and Grandmaster Emblas arsenal.
SONGHAI - Myra Songfire
BBS (Echo): Return a friendly Artifact to your action bar. It costs 1 less.
Explanation
Like Durik’s, this BBS encourages the use of Artifacts. This time by allowing the player to return Artifacts of their choice to their hand (restoring their durability) then play them again for a lower cost. This General could bring with it the rise of Artifact based combo-hai decks, which would be very interesting to see.
VETRUVIAN - Sefsa the Unending
BBS (Origination): You can replace an extra card this turn.
Explanation
This one might seem a bit strange. I’ve always felt that Vetruvian should be the faction with Replace synergy. I don’t know why, but it just seems like it fits somehow. I believe this BBS would push Replace decks into the meta, as Sefsa’s BBS allows cards like White Widow, Inquisitor Kron, and even Astral Crusader to get more value, while also allowing the player to cycle through their deck faster than normal.
the Lyo one might be weak and the Magmar one strong, but creative ideas!
