New deck archetype

So today in ranked I faced a Lyonar deck that was centered around a combo involving this card:

Basically, he put this out and then kept buffing all of his minions with Bolster, a 2 cost intensify spell thay increases all minions health, starting at 2. He was also playing Brome so he was able to keep putting out cheap provokers and then buffing them up.

I can see this kind of combo with Fugitive becoming quite common as we are seeing more intensify spells now. I would imagine it would be especially deadly in the above Lyonar deck, combined with Divine Bond/Liturgy. Just sit tight, build up a bunch of cheap minions, keep buffing them with the Fugitive/bolster combo and then drop Bond/Liturgy to OTK.

I felt it was pretty cancerous as there isn’t a lot you can do to stop it. If you can’t immediately remove Fugitive or, god forbid, they have more than one on the board, combined with possible Mirrorim and Loremaster, then they are pretty much guaranteed to get the buffs.

Hell, this could be even worse in an Arcanyst deck combined with Owlsage. The only clear answer to these Shenanigans is EMP.

im only playing this deck cuz it seems like it had a good matchup vs vet and strategos but there are 2 problems

  1. emp
  2. not drawing bolster

Yea I can see how EMP would be an issue :joy:
Thunderhorn + Kinematic Projection is a pretty nice answer to Strategos since they typically don’t run much removal :grin:

yeah i was running marty to beat horn but idk, it seems like i have too many spells and not enough minions to get bolstered. I was playing dreamgazer and d wave but i just ended up killing myself half the time from them

I have an alternate Vet deck that runs the golem package and 2x EMP but I’ve been preferring to run the more dervish focused aggro deck recently as most of the decks I face don’t need the EMP and the Dervish version puts out damage more consistently

It’s not really a new archetype, owlpunch is already a deck that has already seen some fringe play.

I don’t mind him that much but then again I play mostly aggro at the moment while laddering so perhaps that’s why :joy:

He was a huge pain for my Obelysk deck though

Oh fair enough, well I am still fairly new to the game and haven’t seen all of the different archetypes yet and his deck is using cards that were recently added so I figured it was a new combo :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

i would argue that spamming bolster and using divine liturgy is a new archetype, considering it literally would be impossible without the use of these 2 new cards

Hmmm I reckon there’s a very dirty Vet Accomulonimbus combo to be had with Fugitive. Time to save that dust :grin:

what’s your list? have you tried dauntless advance? it works wonders on my aggro argeon.
