Meta Talk with kevin2hard

What are you on about? I’ve seen barely any Wanderer and I’m Diamond 2 currently. The ones I did see I beat too.

I don’t understand the complaints about Vet after the patch: Litd nerfed, Accu nerfed (kinda unplayable now), Thorn nerfed, EMP nerfed, Wispers nerfed, Falcius nerfed, Sandswirl nerfed (no biggie though, must say), …
Ok, Portal G. got buffed, but nothing to impressive compared to the nerfs Imho.
Sure it’s still a very strong faction but, aside the fact that it’s early now to talk about meta as we’re dealing with a situation similar a new expansion, in diamond I still see Ragnora/Reva Wanderer dominating, motherf****ng Strategos, and also a lot of older archetypes brought back to life which require specific answers (lot of Creep stuff, Arcanyst Hai, Arti/Spell Hai).

Fuck Spellhai/Mantra and everything about it.

At least when I lose to other decks I can understand where I went wrong which lead to me losing. When it comes to these cheesy Spellhai decks, there’s literally nothing I could have done differently to prevent a loss. They draw their key cards, I lose. Simple as that.

Well forgive me for not believing you on Crescent Spear not being that strong when every single Reva deck I’ve faced since the patch has used them, and this is in Diamond 2 where some of those I faced were S rank. You not including them doesn’t mean that it’s not a rediculously good card.

The strongest faction rn is Magmar. The huge buff to visionar and the reintroduction of lavalance/wild inceptor/Morin khur make starhorn and ragnora super good. I definitely expect those two decks beeing t1

Also the only real nerf that vet get is accu (rightfully). Sandswhirl, Litd and falcius are all still good and playable. I expect fault-kanumkha beeing the go to vet deck

PS mantra and burn hai wasn’t top tier pre rotation so I don’t expect it to be now

Nah, I faced a lot of eggmar a couple days ago and beat most of them using Fault Vet

Whispers to you “Decks can have bad match-ups.”

It’s high tier for sure but I don’t think Eggmar is the strongest in the game

FYI what’s successful* on ladder isn’t necessarily any good

wtf is this??

It initially sounded like a psychology, but then it started about Yu-Gi-Oh and at that point I find it hard to believe there is an actual book out there in Times New Roman font talking about Yu-Gi-Oh meta.

That doesn’t really support what he said. While opinions on top meta decks can differ, we can all quickly tell whether particular decks are actually “any good” or not, regardless of opinions.

By the end of the Mermail Firefist format it was very clear that Mermail was the better deck but everyone thought Firefist was better at the start.

The book is written by Patrick Hoban, arguably the best YGO player of all time, with 21 YCS tops, 8 YCS wins, multiple ARG tops and Wins, Multiple Worlds invites and an American Nationals winner.

Easily the most influential player of all time, getting people to find that cards like Vanity’s Emptines exsists and getting multiple cards hit on the F&L list.

The book goes greatly into psychology so you can find out to use your oppenent’s biases to win, create a testing circle, identify your oppenent’s skill level and even get them to fall for your bluffs.

It teaches you the golden ratio of deck building and how to quickly identify the best deck. Those are just some of the things that the book tells and this knowledge can be applied to any card game.

It’s a really good read.

Ascension Sajj was top tier right after the ToM patch. Next month it became crap tier.
