Memecrafting- arcanyst maehv

maehv is bottom tier, so why not have some fun with it. i got the idea from abyss idea thread here and threw this deck together in a few minutes. i havnt tested this deck but i’m asking for ideas for optimizing this deck. not make it competitive, but to make it something other than hot garbage.

sphere for cycle, void pulse for healing, lure and punish for removal.
prophet and shaman are maehv staples
lots of healing so she can actually use her BBS without dying.
sun seer is an arcanyst AND heals so i put it in, just to see how it does.
prismatic illusionist generates the fodder for BBS
desolator autoinclude
nightshroud for heals and a win condition.
blue conjuror and trinity wing for card draw
death knell with nightshroud is the ultimate goal of this deck.

thanks in advance for any input

I’d have 3x Trinity or Conjurer for consistency, but that’s just preference.

I’d add 2x Inkhorn Gaze instead of Sun Seer. Spell that cycles and gives a good bbs target. I’ve used it to good effect in my swarmcanyst decks.

Worked like a charm. As soon as i swapped in the inkhorns they never once appeared in my hand

This deck really doesn’t need Desolator, but with or without it the deck really, desperately craves DFS. It can be combined with Deso to get a big hp swing in for 6 mana or played after an 8 Mana Knell to get an immediate spell proc for free. Also very useful with Conjurer, Owl, Illusionist and is one of the reasons Arcanyst Abyss is strongest with

Mostly I just think Control Maehv is shooting yourself in the foot unless you have a Scintilla or something

i say use manaforger to give your spells some ramp. also it’ll make your win con(Echoing shreak and blood echoes paired with nightshroud) super cheap mana cost wise so your mana for the most part can go solely towards summoning your arcanyst spam.

Neither Echoing Shriek nor Blood Echoes are a part of this deck. And nor should they be.

Not sure what you’re talking about as that wouldn’t be the wincon anyways, that slot is reserved for Death Knell.

i say it’s alot easier (and much cheaper mana cost wise since you can use the mentioned spells midgame quite easily where as death knell is basically just lategame) to just run the spells along with manaforger for ramp. Win cons shouldn’t be reliant on late game IMO. You should have an easy way to win midgame at the very least.

(granted i’m not a pro. But i feel like i’m learning enough about the game to at least have an opinion about it. I’ve played against arcanyst maehv before and that was one combo I thought was super neat and it made it damn near impossible to even get to lategame on top of dealing with all the arcanyst threats they were able to put up. Plus potentially free punish and other spells being ramped sounds pretty neat to me honestly)

Echoing Shriek isn’t very great in the current meta, and Blood Echoes Nightshroud isn’t anywhere near competitive since the resummoning order is random, meaning you could get zero healing from it. Not only that, but it’s very hard to set up a good Nightshroud, much less have your whole setup alive next turn for an Echoes.

And this is coming from someone who played Nightshroud to S the first month it was released.

Nightshroud in general isn’t very good anyways. That being said, Manaforger is really great in Abyssian Arcanyst, especially playing Illusionist and Whip on T2.

Usually your mid game Arcanyst wincon is either a swarm wincon or Owlbeast. By the time you get a Nightshroud combo set up you would likely be nearly ready for Knell anyways, and that will always be the primary wincon in a competitive Abyss Arcanyst list.

I mean as long as my manaforger idea was decent. Even if I thought it was good for all the wrong reasons. I just know that ramp is really good regardless of the deck and manaforger is a really good way to ramp

I’d also mention that manaforger+sphere P1T1 is a very good opening play.
