Intro:
Hey folks, RHacker93 here today to officially announce that Team Wars will be starting on November 26th which is just a week and a half away! We already have some teams put together as we’ve allowed sign-ups in our Discord for a few weeks by now. That being said we’re still looking to gather as many people as possible for the event so be sure swing by if you’re interested!
Rules:
Since I know many of you have never participated in Team Wars before I’d like to give a little bit of an overview as to what it entails. This will be a condensed version of the rules but you can find the full rules in our Discord channel. Team Wars is a league-style event and much like with the Meltdown League when you sign up you will be playing for multiple weeks. Also similar to the Meltdown League you will be able to set up the time when you are available to play your matches. However the biggest difference will be that in Team Wars you are playing on a team. Teams in Team Wars are made up of between 3-6 players and each week your team will face off against another. After you have faced all of the other teams there will be a playoff to determine who the Team Wars champion!
Prizing:
For our primary prizing we will be holding another Matcherino campaign. Normally I would like to have this set up already but I’m currently in the process of trying to partner with Matcherino which would allow us to have some Meltdown Town merchandise as donation incentives!
The Matcherino campaign will fund the final prize for the winning team but we’ve also got some sweet participation prizes to give out over the course of the event. Over the course of Team Wars for each game you win you’ll receive a code for an orb! This means that even if your team doesn’t end up winning you’ll still have a chance to win some free orbs just by participating!
Signing Up:
Signing up for Team Wars can be done in one of two ways. First off you can simply put yourself on the “Free Agents” sign-up sheet which is pinned in the #team-registration-and-recruiting channel under the Team Wars section of our discord and wait to see if a team picks you up.
However you can also choose to try and put together your own team. This act may seem daunting but can actually be fairly easy. If you’re putting together a team you’ll be considered to be the team captain. This means that you’ll be in charge of scheduling your team’s matches for the week as well as gathering decklists for the week and turning them in each week. Other than that finding teammates is as simple as looking on the free agents sheet and asking them if they’d like to join your team. Once you have at least 3 people on your team then go ahead and message me (RHacker93#5450 on DIscord) and I’ll add you to the team roster!
Final Word:
I’d like to thank each and every person who signs up to play in this event as well as everyone who donates to the eventual Matcherino. It really means a lot especially in this time where I know we’re all waiting for any kind of new content. That being said if you’re looking for something fresh and new Team Wars is and always has been a place where, given the format, you almost always get to see some wonky decks being played. Also if you’re looking to get into the competitive scene or just want to earn some orbs this could be the competition for you. It’s slightly less serious by nature and win or lose you’ll still be getting to know the community and getting to earn some orbs along the way!
