Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Summon Mechazor!
  2. Use Stun Spells

#2

If tremor was used, tremor targets a 2x2 area not the unit itself and therefore Mechazor could be stunned.

#3

So it can be targeted by some spells? Whether it’s directly or indirectly, the description of the card is misleading if that’s the case.

Same issue Lyonar’s Decimate.

#4

Targeting a space is not the same as targeting the unit. Aoe can hit it, space targeted stuff like Tremor and Chromatic Cold can hit it, stuff like Martyrdom can’t because it targets. The description is accurate, anything that does not target it, can affect it.

#5

But that doesn’t make any sense.

#6

there’s some nuance to the way cards in most card games work, and it’s usually predicated on specific word choices. Keywords to look for are “minion”, “general”, “any”, “all,” and “space,” in the case of cards affecting something that is untargetable directly. Mechaz0r can’t be targeted by spells. Mechaz0r can be affected by spells that do not target him, but include him in the list of things the effect is being applied to. Scenarios include any card that targets a space, or any group of minions; examples include ephemeral shroud and decimate. If it’s still confusing, look up a guide on how hexproof, protection from (attribute), and shroud work in MtG; it follows the same basic ruleset.
