Duelyst Forums

Lore of the Forums: Prologue

Once upon a time, when the world was new, there existed a wonderful place. In this place lived the old posters. These posters were far superior in every way to the modern posters. Their decks were better and more inventive, there were no nerf threads, instead, there were “I’m having trouble with a specific card, please give me some advice” threads. Their memes were better crafted, their comments more complete and literate, and the community was tighter. One day, in this hallowed land of bliss, disaster struck. A great storm struck the greater city, destroying it. Many perished in that horrible event, their high-quality posts never to be read by another. Not all perished, and the few that survived built a new city. It would never reach the splendor of the old city, but it would do for now.

Actually I’m a really new player. Just thought this would be a fun little thing to make.

Oh, by all means. I’m not stopping you. In fact I’d like to see you continue. You had me fooled though, since I myself am new as well. Just remember to include us in the correct chapters when you get there.

I feel like I should be offended since I’m new but eh, carry on

i feel like making this a roleplay, I used to RP in forums and stuff.

We have done RP’s on this forum, no reason why we can’t try it again

Well at least we know which roles you and I will have

So, I’ve been thinking up a plot. In the world of Duelyst, there are numerous underlying layers of other “Factions,” and clans fighting for dominance over other things.

The Culists of Serpenti and the Church of Makantor are at necks of each other, and other clans are fighting over other things such as control over areas that provide areas of sacrifice to their leaders. It’s basically territorial / dominion wars that are taking place under Rasha’s eye as he tries to gain dominance over everything.

Who knows though, maybe these clans would do much more than just dominate another, influence the entire timeline of Duelyst, perhaps?

the meddling of the time traveling vetruvians has led to their rise and fall across the timelines. with every change made their power increases to unprecedented heights, but it is soon followed by their inevitable downfall as the timeline corrects itself.

For the record, I was the one who thought up the religious wars between the Serpenti Cultists and the Church of the Makantor.

Why, yes, I am that petty.

Vetruvians are like Uncle Bens in every Spiderman movie.

Honestly, I don’t really care that you said that. You liked my posts so many times it’s hard me not to lo-, AHEM, I mean, like you. You wanna collab or something to actually make it happen?

Sure why not. My writing always comes off as a bit pretentious due to my needlessly expansive vocabulary, and I have an unfortunate tendency to use too many adjectives.

For thine may now realize that I have now found the perfect writer to be of acquaintance to me; For I do also write in a needlessly complex wording and hope that I may be of use whilst writing this great roleplay.

The forums were a place of rebirth for tired Duelysts, for once they stepped within these hallowed grounds they were no longer mere players: they were artists, storytellers, poets, bards, mathematicians, philosophers, and historians. Discussion was lively, youth and optimism celebrated, critical thinking revered (lol). It was a new golden age of innovation, and some even dared to imagine that this prosperity would rival that of the beforetimes. And from this swirling mix of creativity was born the magnum opus of the forums, the holiest of threads:

we need a fixed post for duelyst memes
For real guys, can we not derail the thread this time? I’d love for a creative writing project like the Battle for the Monolith to return to the forums.

Also, I have no idea what I’m doing and where this thread is going. It should be understood that we’re looking at this story with the aforementioned nostalgia goggles and glorifying certain forum goers for the comedic purposes, but maybe there should be a rule against people writing about themselves.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT ME, I JOINED LIKE A MONTH AGO AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

My suggestion would be to write most of your ideas for this thread off-site and post it in very large chucks. If you want help with material ( i.e. old forum posts and long lost users) then I would also suggest you take reminiscent posts here for to use as fodder. Collaborate with whomever.

Tales of The Moderators

They say the forums have never seen true lawlessness, for the Moderators have existed since the beginning of time. This organization, comprised of ten overseers, rules the forums unopposed, towering over the everyday memer and nerfthreaders with the power of the Iron Lock. While some choose to walk amongst us, some Moderators have not been seen in years*, fading into obscurity. All we know is that they exist, and they are strong, stronger than any single necromemester could hope to face.

*not actually years

Ryvirath, known affectionately as “The Waifuseeker”, is the most famous of all the Moderators. They associate freely with the commoners, troll the meme threads and join the various Waifu Wars for sport, but they are not to be trifled with: Ryvirath’s All-Locking Eye is capable of sending necrothreads back to the grave for good, cleansing the vile curse of necromancy from the forums as quickly as it springs up.

System is a mysterious entity, only appearing to subtly edit and save images in the OFS (Official Forum Shitheap), so that it may be available to future generations of scholars. None have heard this mechanical menace speak, but as a Moderator it is undoubtedly capable of higher brain functions than the average forumgoer. It is always, always watching. Always…

Many Moderators begin their lives not as godly beings, but mere mortals. However, even they are unrivaled champions of order. Among them is Maelrawn, the Knight of Aloe Vera. Beginning life as a simple plant of the genus Noob, Maelrawn rose through the ranks of forumgoers with his expert insight and bluntness (which is ironic, because Aloe Vera is a very pointy plant). His elevation to Moderator status was a glorious awakening of his true self: he was no longer a plant, but a tub of the smoothest gel ever seen. Then he banged all the babes in the world and fell into a slumber for a million billion years.
Can you tell I ran out of steam towards the end? Pitch in if you guys have any ideas on cool stories about our friendly neighborhood mods

Also, the genders are neutral because what if @system was a gamer grill the whole time and we didn’t even know. I’d be sooooooo embarrassed.
