Lightbender: 2-3 of in every deck now?

During the early stages of Duelyst I hated lightbender, because shroud did everything better. Lower cost, acceptable body, and silencing one minion is no different from silencing a dozen.

Now things have changed. I think lightbender is an extremely important card now, so important, that without this card many decks will become very OP.

Lightbender deals with:

-creeps
-Kara’s boosted minions (placed adjacent to each other)
-obelysks
-Nimbus
-Reva’s heartseekers
-Sky phalanx
-Silithar elders
-Walls

Those are examples where you will have the potential to silence multiple targets to get great value, and even if you just silence one target it’s not the worst thing in the world. Every deck I play I put 3x lightbenders because I know that 9 times out of 10 I will be facing against a deck where having a lightbender will be very handy.

What do you think? Is Lightbender now a staple?

i think it would be if you could get a complete deck and have a few spaces left over for them. creep decks wont use them for obvious reasons, i have been trying a swarm deck recently (its been going well) and i honestly am still trying to figure out what i could possibly remove to make room for it. there are just so many cards that are either essential or fairly helpful in getting the snowball rolling. i dont think you will see it in abyssian decks.

we wont know until the meta stabilizes, but the reason lightbender wasn’t played much before was that you risk dispelling your own minions and with so many new effects in shim’zar is it really worth it?

Maybe in control oriented decks? I was thinking of an “anti-meta” magmar build with plasma storm and lightbenders ready to ruin someone’s day

I am running 2 in all of my decks now. There are some new draw/cycling options, so I don’t think 3x L’Kian is n’t needed in all of my decks.

Lightbender is simply the most efficient in a meta where basically every deck runs a lots of powerful threats. And seeing as this expansion is all about synergy, there’s no wonder how it introduced lots of them. Shroud simply isn’t enough anymore as dispelling only a single target with it is just too slow in this patch which is loaded with “dispel baits”. Putting at least 2 in every deck (other than creep cassy or structure vet arguably) is basically a nobrainer.

Of course, people are currently all about trying out the new broken decks and it’s natural how they want to be proactive and think about “how do I make this deck even better” rather than about “how do I deal with all this broken decks”.

I was running 2x in my midrange argeon but its awkward to get it down right a lot of the time for me without hurting my own units in the process, so I just run 3x sun bloom and 1x sunstone templar at the moment.

I have 3 of these in my vetruvian deck, not only dispell everything around it but also is a 3/3 drop that general alone cant eliminate, also I have 2 rashas curse due to songhai artifacts and abyssian wraiths one
