Let's discuss the balance changes

Set rotation is going to be debated a lot in the near future, so I think it’s more interesting to discuss the upcoming balance changes.

  • Bloodrage Mask - Mana Cost increased from 1 to 2 Mana. Good nerf, this is a strong card and Shidai makes it even easier to proc it. I think it’s a sensible choice.
  • Spectral Revenant - Mana Cost increased from 7 to 8 Mana. Spectral is too strong for its mana cost, but the nerf looks overdone. I would have preferred to see a reworking of the card, for instance to make it damage the enemy general only when it attacks a minion. I guess it’s the end of the 3x Revenants
  • Aspect of the Ravager - Mana Cost increased from 1 to 2 Mana. Good nerf, at 1 mana it is too strong as a tempo play
  • Chromatic Cold - Damage reduced from 2 to 1. I don’t think this changes much, am I missing something?
  • Frostburn - Mana Cost increased from 5 to 6 Mana. This nerf is overdone. Frostburn is a strong card, but at 6 mana it will be too slow. I would have preferred to see other AoEs buffed to be honest
  • Saberspine Tiger - Mana Cost increased from 3 to 4 Mana. This will likely remove the card from the game, probably for the best

And what do you think about the changes?

The only nerfs I oppose are revenant and frostburn. The rest I can understand for freeing up design space and, for aspect, toning down power. Chromatic cold was fine in my opinion though, albeit still very strong.

CC desnt have the same face value. idk how I feel about this. coming out of hand with CC for the extra damage was usually enough and now it probably wont be. As “removal” its not the same either. It use to neatly clean up lots or 2 hp minions that buff, now still has reach, but it’s not removing much / just ranged dispel which is strong, but given CC was like the 2mana spell of 2 mana spells, limiting its versatility will probably be a big deal.

Everything pretty much needed, the rotation will take care of the other problem cards like EMP,Ghost seraphim and Lavaslasher

The only non-rotated card that I’m a bit iffy about is Plasma Storm. This card puts a big lid on any large minions with 3 > attack.

Then again, I’m mainly a vet main, so I’m a bit biased.

Ragnora is shaping up to be the best deck of the upcoming meta. We’re gonna be seeing a LOT of lizards for a while now.

I’m not too sure about that. Remember, Inceptor, Morin Khuur, and Thumping Wave and rotating out next year. Rag’s gonna have to rely on egg morph and whatever the expansion brings to combo eggs.

I’ve been running Khurless Ragnora ‘cuz I’m poor, and it’s actually very good.

Not sure how mentioning the meta months from now effects tomorrow with Thumping, Morin khur and Inceptor on top of the new support. Nothing is out of rotation tomorrow. Not even cards that are removed from packs.

CC nerf feels enormous for some reason, and I’m worried about Abyssian after Shimzar leaves and all creep support/sphere of darkness is gone.
Thankful for the BRM nerf though, that card has been an issue for… well, since forever. We’d still have old Mana Vortex if this thing had been nerfed in its stead.

Not until 2019.

Ragnora isn’t simply a combo general. My deck doesn’t run Inceptor, Khur or Egg Morph (although Egg Morph will likely replace thumping) and the deck is very powerful. Especially with Vanar/Abyssian nerfed and Magmar being a direct counter to Vet and Build, I don’t see how the lizards won’t reign supreme.
