Is it the end of duelyst?

I’m sorry to be salty but i’ve seen some shit happen in games and it makes me wonder how will duelyst recover from this… before rotation most/some (cause i know you all like to nitpick words and create heat from it) was annoyed by ragnora having lethal consistently by turn 7 thats gone now but meta decks is fast becoming annoying. I don’t see this game being about strategy anymore placement means shit might aswell make this hearthstone because absolutely nothing stays on board and lethal is seeing more consistently across some factions by turn 8. what i mean is that those op decks you will feel as if you already loss by turn 1 because whole game you are playing from behind very rarely can u comeback and mass aoe (raigeki, dark hole) doesn’t exist cause u spend entire turn doing nothing and opponent just spits out more pressure.

I mean ye things may seem fun for awhile but it just got me thinking how will next expansion change this. Calling for nerfs isnt worth it at this point or two weeks later because nomatter what is nerfed if cards for brome, sajj, maehv, starhorn (all in that order im leaving vanar out of it as its somewhat cant be dealt with) isnt touched one out of these 4 will be a dominant force…these 4 generals are tier 0 from what ive seen…if u have the early game answer sure no problem but once they get the ball rolling its over. Some may say burn them down before lategame but thats my point in which im relaying this game has become no use of skill and games are won n lost by turn 7.

Im just putting this out there so later down you all will understand what i mean. if you love fast games this is for you but real chess players dont use “fools mate” and say they are skilled at the game.

just to reiterate just in case many miss my point… im not calling out for nerfs about this or that deck op its not about identifying which deck to nerf… its just the whole state of the game turn 7 turn 8 games are decided who wins or loses these days. i know there are persons who hate unskilled non consistent s rankers as myself make these post but im coming in from a neutral standpoint so as the game doesn’t entirely shift on who has the faster more consistent deck whether it be a snowball or burn variant.

In response to the title:

No. The core playerbase has no other alternative (Smite tactics doesn’t count) so if they want their FE+CCG fix, this is the only place. I don’t think CPG could do anything to drive me away from this game, no matter how much shit I talk about it.

I think what you’re seeing more here is the ever-increasing gap between “meta” decks and lower tier decks. It’s the inevitable conclusion of the “make a ton of busted cards, if something is too good go back and change later” philosophy CPG has adopted, while at the same time printing a bunch of what is essentially “fun but fair” cards, or even just filler. While some people think this is cool, it ends up destroying people who are good or think they’re good as it removes more and more skill from the game, and puts more emphasis on openers and most powerful deck.

I feel like dooly is going down the road of deckbuilding skill over technical skill. Preparation over reaction. This isn’t inherently bad. I had a blast finetuning my current uber-anti meta deck.

pretty much no place to test decks…or have fun (im not talking about going unranked) its all about play the top 4 decks or get rekt hard trying others

The friends list exists bruv.

or maybe nerf all trials by 2 mana and increase jax truesight by 2 would be the solution for slower game… as for hatefurnace idk starhorn is a beast with him

Jax truesight would be unplayable at 8

it should be just like they killed that guy that steal 2 attack minion

Boi is jax even a problem? I can’t think of a single situation where he’s a blowout.

just to slow down brome from cheesing his way to being consistent

You shouldn’t be losing to Brome if you trial cancel.

its a bug that will be fixed plus i dont like to win by exploiting a bug

fight bad design with bad design

plus brome will be fixed

personally, im interested to see where cpg takes their new high power level design theory and how they balance it with the lack of instants, because i find the current meta somewhat remniscent of the current state of mtg modern, maybe even vintage or legacy

Hooo BOI, do I have some news for you!

Regarding the lifespan of the game, I think that while how well the game plays at any given moment is important, what is even more important is the dev team’s ability to address these problems quickly and efficiently.

I’m starting to get worried about the health of the game, not because of any particular deck dominating the ladder, but because bugs and chronic complaints are not being addressed. Even a simple official acknowledgement that some “bug”, like longstanding sentinel ones, are working as intended. Sentinels were not addressed until long after their release.

I don’t know, when the main selling point of an expansion has a MAJOR bug, that was found, but not spoken about officially, I start to get a bit worried about the future of the game. I’ll still play Duelyst as long as it’s fun, but the lack of communication is starting to make me doubt this game’s future.

If the first part was meant seriously, then no, chess.com is not an acceptable substitute for me. I like deckbuilding a lot, and see it as a form of expression. Not just for me, but anyone would be able to tell a Dragall list from a Minmaxer list from a kev2hard list from a Solafid list.

I have played tons of multiplayer games and in every single one players are always calling for the games death. Every single one is alive to this day, it takes a lot to kill a game with an established community.

The expansion is not even a week old and people are crying about the expansion being bad for Duelyst?

I think we have something similar happening when Immortal Vanguard came out where people are similarly upset. But we are fine right now, right? We are still here and playing Duelyst.

And give them time with the bug fixes and other items. It has been less than a week and I am sure they are on the job.

It’s @kevin2hard, no worries, he’s always crying before/after each expansion launch.
You’ll get used to it, just ignore it

(there's a button for that)
