I think I quit duelyst

It is something that happens a lot, is it supposed to? I dont know. Do I think it should? heck no, Kara is one of the more antifun generals IMO, esp because of buffed cats (couldnt say Kineticats cause someone copyrighted it xD)

I used to play LoL alot, mostly with friends. But part of the reason was all the salt made me despise the game. Duelyst isn’t as bad though because I don’t lose due to retarded catfish for team mates. Just take a breath and try and do your best to improve. RNG will occassionally be bice to you and most of the time the skilled player takes the game.

The screenshot that Soro posted showing the Sajj getting burst down from 20-0 is what really ticks me off. The fact that Kara is able to pull that off, while enjoying the best single target removal and dispell in the game simply because shes a Vanar general and being able to drop overstatted minions until she can do things like that is absolutely stupid, and quite unfair. The only factions that have a fair chance against Kara are Magmar, able to abuse their crazy control and Makantor (I mean, what Magmar player DOENST abuse Makantor) along with Taygete (ew) to use Kara’s power against her, and Songhai when they play heavily aggressive, maybe with Kaleos for the mobility to be able to bring Kara’s health total dangerously low if not flat out killing her before she can really get rolling.

It’s not about the salt, it’s about the sea.

He man we’ve had good battles and because you have a memorable name I remember top decking you and you too decking me. I’ve learned that if I have lethal in my hand then odds are they do too. I try to appreciate the fact that their deck worked that time. Anyways I hope to still see you around.

Hey we’ve played quite a few times!

Honestly Magmar has made me quit for a bit as well, Vaath frustrates me to no end, he has done so since the beginning of me starting this game, Magmar removed from the game would be okay with me, but I know I’m just salty.

Hopefully we can both overcome our frustration.

Mine is with playing control Vanar.

I feel it’s not even Vaath in particular it’s just the BS efficiency that Taygete and Makantor allow without much thought and are surprisingly annoying to play around if not downright difficult.

As a Magmar main that ‘magmar is so brainless’ stuff kinda annoys me tbh. Makantor and taygete are pretty good and usually force your opp to either dispel/hardremove or let the magmar gain value. thats the same thing for aymara, ironcliffe, fox and a plethora of other cards tho. Sure, makantor is a little bit different due to rush, but can we all just remember that magmar used to be trash tier before taygete and skorn? And taygete is far from a nobrainer, it requires you to think of potential minion placement and movement to be used most efficiently. The only thing thats bullshit about taygete is its ability to trade with each and every minion that has an attack stat thats equal to its health -3 or higher, the aoe is easily avoided.

Therefore its counter damage could be nerfed to be 5 max, since it also has only 5 health, would make sense to me.

Ill admit, Magmar is not the easiest faction to play, but when I see Makantor having that insane reach along with the AoE, its like a moving Holy Immolation PLUS it leaves a body behind. In addition Magmar has the option of flash reincarnation, which will usually end up with the Makantor dying but basically allows you a mobile Immolation at 4 mana.

Thats what I hate about Taygete is the fact that she trades evenly with everything but the beefier, not as hard hitting minions. Not to mention she can be flashed out too, to get 2 AoE damage and still leave a body behind that trades with most minions that hit it and even hits hard against generals. Taygete requires thinking to use MOST efficiently, but when you have 4 mana, and no other play, is Taygete really ever a bad drop? She immediately demands an answer and generally takes at least one minion or 5 health from the general with her if you haven’t got one on hand.

I’ll use Aymara as an example since I’m a Vet player. Aymara is THE biggest dispell bait in the faction, aside from Obelysks perhaps. To play against Makantor, you need to spread out your minions so far that it would take 2 turns to reengage. Not to mention, it can be flashed out for 4 mana, while Aymara cannot be rendered cheaper by any means, and thus HAS to come out at 6 mana or later. To counter it, all you need to do is find one egg-morph, ephemeral shroud, etc. and that completely counters it with not much else left that the Vet player can do except summon a second Aymara and pray you haven’t got another answer in hand.

If you have anything else you’d like to discuss, feel free to say it, I don’t mind convos like this.
Pce

Well, Makantor also costs 6 Mana, which is 2 Mana more than Immo. Also, People often just position themselves reckless bc they forget about warjesus, especially in lower divisions. Sure Makantor is strong, but the ideal scenario is rare, often you will end up with killing one minion and 4 face dmg. Also, yeah flash gives lots of versatility, but flash also means those plays demand 2 cards, which isnt only rarer, but also important with the limited draw ability. Sure, taygete is a solid 4 drop on curve, but vet silithar was that as well. Dispell bait is a good thing in a sense. People will have an answer for your first taygete 95% of the time, be it ritual banishing, egg morph, chromatic or sth along those lines. They might also have an answer for the second taygete, but at some point they might lack the ability to answer your elder. Thats also vets biggest weakness, since it doesnt really have cheap and viable dispell baits, but i’ve still lost games to 3 aymaras played in a row. Those faction specific high value cards always cause trouble when played in packs, and single ones rarely cause major issues. Makantor is much closer to being op imo, but it still has to pay 8 stats for its ability, and doesnt do much to lategame minions.

Long story short, i dont see the difference between taygete and those other minions, makantor is kinda difficult to justify, since rush is pretty busted in a turn based game in general.

I can see your point.

I never forget about Makantor, not anymore anyway, been destroyed by it too many times. How come I can’t find a way to be able to let my minions survive and still be within attack range next turn? This isn’t a rhetorical question, seriously, if there’s a way, I’d like to know.

You are correct, however, Veteran Silithar didn’t require such careful positioning around to deal with. I have not seen a Veteran played in a long time, dont know if thats just me or people simply dont run in anymore because Taygete is superior in just about everything.

Not gonna lie, I have done this before, I don’t like chain summoning Aymara’s, but sometimes I have no better choice. I have been destroyed by a Magmar that drew 2 of his Egg-Morphs and all 3 Warbeasts. So you make a very solid point in that regard.

This is true, but most of the rush minions are either understatted, overcosted or have a particular effect (like revenant, 6/6 for 7 mana, deal 4 to face when hitting a minion). The problem, in my opinion is that it ALSO has frenzy, easily one of the more powerful keywords in the game. The only way to be able to pull this off otherwise, is a Sword of Mechaz0r + Inner Focus combo from Songhai and still isn’t necessarily as strong. The only part I don’t like is that it gets to have 2 of the keywords that are considered some of the stronger ones, and while the Makantor itself is heavily understatted, the raw power it has seems difficult to justify.

My hatred for Magmar has existed long before Taygete came into the equation.

Frenzy clearing my walls, Plasma Storm killing everything I took so long to setup, always Spirit Harvester to counter a Jax Truesight play.

This current Face Aggro Magmar though is a new pain in my side.

Clusterpositioning works for that matter. Makantor only gets to kill 2 minions/1 minion and face damage and you can stay close. Bodyblocking it with cheap minions such as bloodtear is usually the best way to play around it imo. Yeah thats what i like about taygete tho. It forces positioning, which is a big appeal of a game played on a board. One can abuse taygete to force the opponent to retreat/position in certain ways, and cards like that make the game more fun for me. yeah Silithar isn’t really played anymore, but i don’t know if its really that much worse or if people just play taygete more because people didnt dispell silithar as much, because its more of a defensive effect. As i said, dispell bait is more of a good thing most of the time, and offensive threats seem to be dispelled more often since they create more pressure. Well revenant is one of the high value/borderline broken cards as well. Apart from that there is Tiger, which only loses 2 stat points and Elucidator which loses only 1 (but has a small additional negative effect, on the other hand that effect can trigger in faction synergy). The funny thing is, frenzy seems to ‘cost’ more statpoints than rush, since serpenti (hail the lord) loses 5 statpoints for frenzy alone lol.

Salt Lake City?

Once i didn’t get 2 drop while i had 15 or 18 2 drops as Kara, *it happens. And even worse i was in situation where i didn’t have a card to play nor 1 nor 2 turn.

Praise L’kian. Got a Equilibrum that i used a turn before to kill off a silverguardknight and buff the kolossus, and the diretide frenzy. Also a nice lethal puzzle right here. Got really lucky with all these puzzle pieces lol.
Oh yeah, 9 mana btw.

  1. Egg morph Dioltas
  2. Bloodtear OG to kill egg
  3. Move up Kolossus
  4. Give it frenzy
  5. attack
  6. use BBS
  7. move up and hit general for lethal
Ive been doing too many daily challenges lol

I love you, where’d you go?

I also agree with the statement on rush, but that more leads to the un-interactability of such power including but not limited to aymara and ironcliffe which make answers mandatory.

Not healthy and very disempowering for the opposing player.
