How would old Zirix BBS fit in with today's meta?

Discussion portion of

I wanted to make a separate thread highlighting the discussion portion of my previous thread.

With today’s meta/gameplay being dominated by decks ranging from rush, control (vanar), and decks that end either before 9 mana or soon after that point, I wished to see how Zirix’s old BBS (for all of those who aren’t aware of this, his BBS used to be spawn a 2/2 wind dervish on a random nearby tile) would add to the present day gameplay.

Zirix’s old BBS was seen as a problem due to the amount of buffs that you could give to it. By producing a body with rush, Zirix players were able to create crazy amounts of burst damage with the luck of a good hand. The rush mechanic has always (and will continue to be) a highly controversial topic to cover, but it did coincide itself with the “lightning fast” games that CP promised it’s players (see duelyst.com). Zirix’s current BBS still gives you a 2/2 buffable body, but without the rush which brought it down from one of the best BBSs’ to one of the worst (the RNG of the spawn was kept the same). The change brought along one of the most widely used tactics within the game, a tactic I like to call Stalling.

Stalling is the concept of surviving until you can bring out your win-cons. Your average deck consisting overtime lethal rather than the dependency of one large source of game ending damage is likely to be doing something productive each turn, whether it be developing minions, dealing damage to the enemy general, or controlling the enemy’s board. Vetruvian is a faction that (in my experience anyways) has trouble getting a large amount of burst damage out unless you’re playing artifact vet. This has led to the development of a slower, more lategame oriented faction in the form of vetruvian, which counters the lightning fast gameplay CP promised ( unless you’re not playing vetruvian)

What do you guys think?

If we still had Zirix’s old BBS we’d probably see more Tempo and Aggro Vet. Those were the two archtypes that the BBS really enabled, face monkey where you just went face with the 3 wishes and tempo orientated “sabotage” as most people call it.

The thing is most people elected to play the face monkey deck and honestly it was fairly frustrating to play against. It turns out getting a 4/4 with rush and a 2/1 for 3 mana and one card is broken, that’s why it got changed.

As for Vet’s burst. They actually can burst very hard in specific situations. The thing is Vet is a board focused faction. They have awkward out of hand damage and rely heavily on getting high value slow minions on board. The main win con of Vet has always been get on the board. Once they do so they burst very high. Grandmaster Nosh- Rak can end games very quickly if you control the board as Vet. Star’s Fury becomes horrifying if you can get a Fireblaze to stick. And having a board of golems being buffed by Feralu is Golem Vet’s win con. Vet actually has a very Midrange playstyle based on taking the board and beating down their opponent with it. I think it fits the lightning fast gameplay reasonably.
