How to budget eggmar?

Title says it all. How to eggmar but when you’re ballin on a budget.

Pancakes made some budget ragnora deck if I remember correctly: https://duelyst.gamepedia.com/Guides#Deck-_.26_Tierlists

this is what I used in the last amateur melee, which was limited to one epic and legendary. pancakes is a more experienced deckbuilder than me but this is another take on it at least. imo rebuke over storm is an important improvement once you have the spirit since in budget ragnora lists most of your stuff even late game dies to plasma storm. and as always in magmar warbeasts and lavaslashers are good pickups. unfortunately this archetype really likes morin-khur but that is a legendary rotating out soon so a pretty bad option on a budget.

With 1900 spirit this list isn’t really that cheap, but I think it does some things really well - without epics and legendaries.

If your really on a budget the dedicated combo deck is fairly cheap:

Abjucator+Eggmorph+Thumping+Fortitude+BBS=Seven Mana 20 damage out of hand burst.

Thumping/Eggmorph double as removal. And you can still just beast down with raptors/rippers as small combos.

How does the combo work? Can you clarify?

You use Abjucator to discount Eggmorph, Thumping Wave and Fortitude at some point in the game when the cards are in hand, mostly likely the turn prior to doing the combo so the 3 spells cost 6 mana total.

Then on a turn with 7 mana or more, you use Ragnora’s BBS to place the egg which is a 3/1 with celerity when hatched. You use Egg Morph to hatch the egg and when an egg is hatched it has a pseudo like rush mechanic meaning the minion can move that same turn. You buff it with Thumping Wave giving it +5 attack with Fortitude to give it +2/2. Making it a 10/3 minion with Celerity, allowing you to move and attack the enemy general twice to deal 20 damage.

Thanks. Didnt know that it was possible O_O. Problem is keeping board and CA to get the combo.

Would Thraex combo better than primordial gazer since it has synergy with cryptographer? (also does the effects given to the general by grandmaster kraigon stay on the general forever like with Variax?)

-No thraex doesn’t give defense and it is less attack

-Kragion effect is only active if Kraigon is on board not dispelled

Suppose you had 1200 more spirit, what replacements would you make?

I believe any buffs from Kraigon’s grow effect stays until dispelled like Vaath’s BBS but if Kraigon is removed you would not grow any further and the forcefield is gone.

is warpup a must for the build or is it more of a tech. I have almost all the rest of it

It is not a must. And it doesent fit into many decks so it may not be worth the spirit. I put it in because you needed another two drop, and it gives you at least some sort of source of AOE, and one that is also good with all the decks buffs.

You could just shove healing mystic in its place as its never a bad pick, or you could put diretide frenzy in as a decent source of AOE.

Mostly decks just sort of hitting a budget wall because what it wants to do is run some of magmars staple epics instead of warpup like: rebuke, lavalasher, or makantor and the like.

Quick rough draft: @san4 A little more then 1200 but not to bad.

Throwing budget out the window you could then trade inceptor for MorinKhur and have a pretty dang scary deck. Or alternatively you could just skip the dedicated combo package and go Midrange.

Traded pup and gazer for golem package. Dont have enough for rebukes  This deck catches alot of people off guard.

The only weakness I feel is that it cant deal with swarm very well.

This is kinda expensive for a budget deck. It also has cards I wouldn’t craft for budget decks because they aren’t that useful in general like Warpup or Abjudicator. And Thumping Wave gets rotated out relatively soon.

You don’t need the Rebukes in my opinion.
This is my “fun” list which I used for the last steps to S rank this season:

I even traded out the Eggmorph for Thumping wave for burst and soft removal/Jugg fodder. It isn’t the cheapest of decks, but this is what you got with 7 legendaries.

This is the more competetive/aggro centric version the former deck originates from:

Thunderhorn is in just because of the value. The gameplan is to press an advantage with a lot of minions that are hard to get rid of. Progenitor can be supplemented with Boulder breacher. Older versions had Godhammer thrown in instead of Rage Reactor. Made a lot of sense if you wanted to maximise the stickyness of the board.

I really don’t like the full combo version of Ragnora. Morin Khur+ Greater Fortitude can give 15 surprise damage (including general attack). Using Abjudicator is a bit over the top and makes decks unstable.

if I were forced to keep the cost at a “low” 5000 the deck would look like this:

This is far from a proper budget build, but I hope it inspires, what can be built next.

do ppl still like erratic raptyr a lot even without morin-khur? I cut it for my list but interested in arguments for it

Thats what rebukes are for. But yea.

@boronian Can we please go back to pretending rotation doesn’t exist? We have no idea if/how its truly going to happen. In the mean time lets not shoot our selves in the foot because of the potential apocalypse to come that is still some time away before its even a concern…this attitude it causes is yet another horrible thing about rotations. (Sorry still salty about and terrified of rotations.)

I did add a disclaimer about warpup, abjucator is a toss up, its the whole point of this list, and if your into combo decks its worth it.
