The mechanic itself is great, I think a rework on the numbers would be desirable though.
I don’t like the absolute irreversibility of the effect.
How do you feel about Trial and Destiny? (Poll)
Those games have coin flip metas which are worse.
the only time rock, paper, scissors format have been done well was 2014’s triangle meta in YGO.
Shaddolls beats Burning Abyss
Burning Abyss beats Qliphort
Qliphort beats Shaddolls
Burning Abyss was actually the best in that format because it had a fairly even Shaddoll match up but it beat Qliphort.
Games that are decided before the first turn aren’t fun to play because you already know who will win and in triangle format’s case it was an incredibly skillful format so you wouldn’t already know who wins.
How do you feel about Trial and Destiny ?
Nothing new under the sun, mechanic is at least 10 year old, maybe a bit disappoint about that. Would have loved something fresher.
But they put back Unranked so © “I got that goin for me, which is really nice” ™.
I guess I should have said matches, like this already occurs in duelyst
Understandable that a lot of meme decks auto lose but those are decks that see little play.
Perhaps, but why should it be taken to the extreme? If you want boring games where the outcome can be predicted from turn 1, I guess Duelyst is not for you in general.
like i said, slight advantages are ideal, unless ur playing mirror decks, one deck will always have an advantage over the other overall
You have to be kidding me. You asked for a Trial and Destiny card that specifically negates Destiny effects, and you call that a “slight advantage?”
this thing has been inbuild in thegame for ages. Magmar always countered Abyss, Vanar counters Magmar and Abyss counters Vanar(kinda)
Magmar fucks over Vet
Vet fucks over Songhai
Songhai fucks over Magmar
and then there is lyonar who fucks over everyone and gets fucked over by everyone
What an orgy.
r34, indeed…
the advantage would be determined by the trial needed for the destiny to be negated as well as what kind of trial destiny deck is being used, some trial destiny decks would be higher risk higher reward depending on how much u rely on the destiny, some relying more on extremely niche cards, and vice versa for the anti destiny, while u could alternatively go lower risk without an extreme answer or die fast deck
could create a wider spectrum of decks played rather than play top tier destiny decks, or try and play some kind of counter deck
I would rather prefer it if gameplay was more comprehensive and diverse. I don’t like such blunt counters to ever be printed, as it would only make matches even further formulaic and predictable.
HS did most of their quests pretty well. The best ones have a bounded impact, like for the Mage (arguable because of its OTKness), Shaman and Priest Quests. Fittingly, they had the most trouble with the Rogue one, which provides a continuous undispellable buff to all (small) minions. The Warlock one is just too weak to become a problem so I’m discounting that one. T&D should maybe be providing a more bounded payoff (without becoming Kaleidosaurs of course).
Currently due to bugs, no trial destiny decks are even playable, not to mention they just get crushed by pre-expansion monsters
Never underestimate t4 cataclysm into complete quest
I’ve been given to understand that that deck is currently meme status. Glorious, but not really illustrative.
It is, and it is not getting any support. Ever. Blizzard admited discard was too bad of an archetype, so no discard cards will be printed again
