Hey, here to sugest

I just want to talk about the game.
I read that the playing community is being lower with time, so i am here to point my opinion on why.
I think this game needs balance (not gona say any example to avoid conflict), but, one of my friends and some other people i know, agree with me, and they quit because of that.

That’s all, if you want to suggest other reasons, please do. There sure are many more.

When you play well there is balance.

Funny how you mention balance. We literally had an expansion roughly a week ago. There are currently very few optimized lists running around and most people to my knowledge are just playing around with stuff. There is no meta as of right now and as a result not really much we can do about “balance” because there isn’t anything to fix right now.

I read that the playing community is not being lower with time. Who is correct?

As you are “here to sugest”, please be so kind to suggest something.

That is a very strong point. Well, I’d like to tell you that “one of my friends and some other people i know” disagree with you. It’s a draw. We need a tiebreaker.

Just test it yourself, play 12-15 matches a day, everyday, and if one day you see your waiting queue go over 1minute, or if you keep fighting the same 10 guys, then, yes, there may be a population issue.

If nothing like that happens, then I guess it’s no real “population problem”

From my experience, haven’t had any “issue” over the past 10 seasons at least.

I’ve never ran into you on ladder, so that’s something. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Same for me. But still if you are looking for proofs that the community is lower, you’ll find 'em)

''The upside for the creators, they say, is that it “frees up the Counterplay team to focus solely on development” while more ads mean they’ll be “able to introduce more and more people to the game we all love”. *That latter point – bringing more players – is a significant goal when you examine the steady decline in player numbers, according to SteamCharts.com* (a site that pulls hourly player numbers from Steam’s own data).'

I am right as long as they are right, and they know more than you.

Also, i suggest the devolopers to take a look at balance, that much is obvious.
It’s a fact that people get triggerd with some balance decisions of this game, i don’t think that’s the goal, nor a good thing.

@isbee @alplod no disrespect guys, but I usually rush on day one or two to get to Diamond asap, then I just stay here, at Rank 5 (it’s my forever home) watching people crossing the border and entertaining them with goofy decks

I have both of you in my friend list (among maybe 100 others) and most of them are above 10, so I guess not much have left …

But again, it’s just a feeling, or I may be lucky, and wrong, maybe I should worry more about all these threads explaining how low is going the population and how Duelyst is dying slowly

I don’t know, everything I’ve seen suggests that the game is growing/regaining population recently. Steam charts (as of right now) says that the player base has grown, although I wouldn’t fully believe steam charts. Also doesn’t count people who play browser or client. Seen more self-introductions topics on the forum, within a small amount of time. Been matched up more against players with no ribbons this season than usual.

As for game balance, its too early for this new expansion. But CP does have a history of changing cards in a relatively decent amount of time, so if something is broken or OP, I’m sure that the devs will look into it and change it to the relief/outrage of the players.

It happens after each major expansion actually.

Yes, but this expansion seems to have done this better than the others. But it could also be due to the Namco partnership as well. Of course the real test will be 2 months later, when it comes to the player numbers. Unless there is a major event like mobile/console release that happens.

Usually, suggestions are a bit more precise.

You can’t just say something like that without examples.

Not really an excuse. At the heart of all meaningful discussion there is conflict.[quote=“cazadordoblekatana, post:8, topic:10729”]

Very few people use the steam client.

@nwardezir op plz nerf.

Sorry, that’s not an excuse.
I have seen that people lose focus on the topic if i mention ANY card, and that’s not my goal.
This post is made to sugest changes in policy, CP games doesn’t like to nerf/buff cards, and that is a mistake in my point of view, all designers change things in their games.

So, i will avoid futile conflict.
Also, if CP made a deal with bondai, is because they need help, so i have no doubt that the community is lower each day.

In general, it felt the community was getting smaller, but this is now being turned around.

Regarding balance, a lot of people don’t appreciate that doing the minimal possible is often best for the game. Classic competitive games like Starcraft Brood War or Magic the Gathering made extremely few changes for most of their life cycle. Having a baseline that doesn’t change allows players to be more creative, instead of complaining until the dev fixes stuff.

I admit I also quite like the League of Legends model of very regular patches, as it’s fun and keeps things fresh, but purely in terms of making a good game, it’s not necessarily the best way.

Maybe the best thing would be more updates with stuff like daily challenges and boss fights, instead of balance stuff. I really miss the daily challenges…

You understand so little about Duelyst, discussion and the games industry, no one should bother with talking to you really.

The forums get smaller. I play with people who stopped being here on ladder or Gauntlet when I play sometimes.

Jajajaja, ok
I am confident of my knowledge, and comments like those are just a waste of time to read.

That is problem. The wisest people are never confident in their knowledge, since when they learn more, they always understand there is much more to learn.

I advise you to question everything you believe to be truth from time to time. Then probably there will be a place for a meaningful discussion. And suggestions.

Until that time…

Adios.
