Gauntlet question: Wild tahr versus dancing blades

In general, which one is a better Gauntlet card? And in specific, I just started a draft, and I’ve got Reva, a deathstrike seal and a phoenix barrage. I can choose koi, tahr, or blades.

Five gold for your thoughts?

blades, removal is the way forward, and reva tends to get a lot of good 3 drops, so passing one up isn’t too big a deal

Blades are active. I vote blades.

If you got juxta or MDS tahr…the frenzy alone is already good with songhai mobility

While we’re here, what about fizzling mystic? How much of a Gauntlet priority? I ask mainly because my previous Gauntlet run ended with Vaath blasting me in the face with one, when I might have had lethal on him next turn.

it is a good card, removal with a body is always nice

Dancing Blades every time, answers their threats, puts a threat on board and is higher tempo.

this is why i dislike gauntlet; i’d like tahr but ppl here are right. Tahr requires combo’ing to get some great value out of, which isn’t what you look to build in gauntlet. goodluck on your gauntlet run @unreason

Yet another question. In constructed komodo hunter is considered bad. Is its downside mitigated enough by the lack of removal in Gauntlet for its huge stats to shine? My other choices are a void hunter and a katara, and I’m not picking the katara.

Edit: Is there an up-to-date resource somewhere for assessing the strength of cards in Gauntlet? I remember seeing a pretty good one a year or two back, but that’s not gonna be a huge amount of help now.

Void Hunter is better imo, draw is one of the things you need in Gauntlet and Komodo is still pretty bad overall cause it’s a terrible p2t1 play

@ThanatosNoa, can we have a sidebar so we can have stuff like this linked?

Also, unreason, I would choose the katara. Komodo hunter is especially bad in gauntlet, void hunter is bad. Katara helps you have more T1 plays which is much more important in gauntlet than in constructed. Overall, you just have bad picks, better luck on the next one.

Actually, I think pinned topic with most recent tierlists, DE and Gauntlet guides could be useful.

Thanks for all the help, everyone.

@phoenixtoasches, thanks for the link to the guide, I should have asked for that in the first place. Also thanks for the advice. I’ll…consider taking the katara. I’m leaning toward the void hunter, though, they may not be great but kataras are trash.

In the end it sorta depends on where you are in your draft and what sort of deck its turning out to be, but in general you always want to pick a good amount of P1T1 drops no matter how shitty they are. Void Hunter might be better if you are aggro and have a low curve, but most successful gauntlet decks are usually the ones with solid curve minions with high stats or ones who take advantage of little to no removal being present and play ranged minions.

Take my advice with a grain of salt as I suck at playing gauntlet so…

Yes it depends, if you don’t have enough 1-2 drops (around 1 out of 5), I’d also mayybe pick the Katara. With Kaleos, on the other hand, she? would be an easy pick.

The backstab value is so bad, the general being used is irrelevant. Even if I was playing Kaleos, I would not waste the 1 mana to get such a weak backstab off, no, the card’s only use is as a body and ramping and if we are being hopelessly optimistic, removal/dispel bait.

We use to refer to the goddess that was pre patch katara as she with curly fonts but it is now an it, we have disinherited it and will no longer hear any mention of it other than to spite.

komodo hunter is not worth it, giving your opponent bodies they can ramp with is not worth it int ehearly game, and in the late game the body is not relevant enough, void hunter is also not great as it dies to a single general attack so must be played defensively (along with the fact that songhai has much better options at 3 mana), so I would pick katara as it is a t1 play with 3 hp

Oh right, yet another nerf I forgot ofc

Sorry, not familiar enough with Discourse Forums to know if that’s even possible through coding methods, and anything that’s pinned typically has an expiration date.
