I’ve never created a topic on the forums but I avidly look at what people have to say about the game and I love how it’s become a creative outlet for our community. That being said, I’ve noticed a trend that plagues the forums and that is, whenever a new expac is dropped, people have this incredibly lazy disposition to scream nerf towards something they’re not used to facing. I’ve seen a lot of backlash against the new mythron cards and it’s just honestly sad to see. It’s not yet even been a week and people are already trying to nerf these cards without a proper amount of time to test and/or waiting for the meta to stabilize. I’m not strictly speaking about everyone when I say this but this is a community that is supposed to accept and welcome challenge not scream nerf at the first sight of it. Also, let it be noted that I’m not trying to defend the new mythron cards in any way. I can attest to how strong they are but I think it’s best to wait and actually problem solve by playing the game not concede when you see these decks in play cough cough >__>
For the folks screaming nerf
When should we draw the arbitrary “now we can complain” line then?
Edit: That was a serious question. I always see people complaining about people complaining about things “too soon” but is there a more or less “reasonable” grace period any of us could theoretically agree on?
This mentality is actually more widespread than you picture it, I think
Thinking back, was there ever any time in which an expansion presented us a card or faction that was complained a lot about, had nerf threads, and ended up not being nerfed?
I mean, were nerf threads ever fruitless? Were nerf threads ever not listened to?
People are entitled to complain whenever they like but that’s not really the point I was accentuating. Do I believe it’s still too early? Yes. Does that mean people can’t share the opinions whenever they please? No.
I would say at least until the meta has properly settled, or maybe after the new bugs have been fixed so we can get a proper feel for the meta. As it is people have a kneejerk reaction to decks like Brome saying its overpowered, even though any Aggro or Burn deck will destroy it as a matter of course.
As far as I know they’re still plenty of things people complain about nowadays that have been around since the first expac so yes lol. Granted the devs have listened to the community about certain things and have adjusted them accordingly but that’s not really my point. I’m just saying it’s a bit early.
That’s fair tbh and yes those two deck archetypes do indeed shut down brome quite well
It’s more of a suggestion than anything. How can you really judge something without having played against it for more than a few days? I don’t really know when or how soon the window for such criticism opens to be quite honest. Logically speaking it just feels a bit early to me
I meant outside of the core. Even then, can you list some of those? I cant think of many
Stuff people complain about that didnt get nerfed: Holy Immolation, Mankator
Stuff that got nerfed after threads complaining about the meta: Mana Vortex, Juggernaut, Entropic Gaze, Frostburn, Circulus, Variax, Phantasm, Lavaslasher, Rebuke and Finality are what I can remember now. Im not counting Tiger cause I never seen nerf threads about it.
And now Brome’s pal is hot topic. Sure, its early, but was it not also early for all these other cards? They got immediate nerf threads too, and they all got their deserved adjustments.
This is what makes me think that the concept of “too early” should be respected, but is weak nonetheless.
That’s a fair argument I suppose
When you go against the same deck every other game.
I have even temporarily left duelyst because of brome.
So you’re simply not trying? Way to go lol
I’m consistent with beating Brome, I can’t be fucked to play against the same decks over and over.
While I share you original point, making fun of other forum members is not the way to go.
A little sloppy sarcasm my bad but also noted. I love and respect this community I’ll act as such
what are you saying, this dude just up and replied “That’s a fair argument I suppose” to a counterargument, this is the best thread Ive ever seen, mods should pin this for eternity, the whole world could gain from witnessing this dude in action
I was being serious, maybe I phrased it poorly?
@epicflygon. Same here, just waiting out the storm.
Lol I just saw the validity in your argument
I think it should be 3 weeks. Can’t prove this point objectively, just my own feeling.
But I’ll try.
First week is a mess, where everybody is trying wincons.
Second one is a week of looking for counterplays for most prominent decks.
The third one is one where the most prominent decks are looking for counterplays to counterplays.
Just random time approximation, really, but I believe it’s kinda correct.
Nah I get you dude but I honestly don’t know I’m more so basing my argument off of logic. Like logically speaking shouldn’t it be hard to judge something that’s only been around for such a short amount of time? But there are valid counter arguments to that question as well @ryousen
